The pre-reservation and pre-check in communication with hotel staff by email was so efficient. They let our youngest share the adult bed for free. Room was beautiful - great mix of classic and contemporary. Reception staff were always helpful. Location great - 5 min walk into the old town. Breakfast choice was ok - not huge and quite repetitive. Unfortunately the bathroom sink was blocked and shampoo bottle empty. My complaint is that the description of the junior suite says there's a 'view' and we only had a view of the apartment block across the street. When I asked reception, she shrugged her shoulders and said 'it's a city view'. A bit misleading. Having said that, the junior suite was nonetheless beautiful - two separate rooms rather than just a bedroom with a sofa in the corner which so many other hotels claim is a junior suite! This one had a separate living room. We were given one bottle of water daily for a family of four - I asked reception if this was all we get and she said we couldn't have more. The price was amazing - so much cheaper than elsewhere in Spain and Zaragoza was one of the most beautiful cities we visited. I'm not a fan of hotel or chain coffee so if you like speciality coffee just exit the hotel and follow the building round to the right and take the 1st right to a coffee shop called East Crema Coffee. It's the best coffee in...
Read moreHotel is NH level, not NH Collection. Location is great. Residential area really close to Casco Viejo. If you want to be in the middle of the action there are many hotels closer, but if you value a little bit more peace, this is your hotel. Service is good, but... I expect more from NHC hotels. My only prior NHC experience was at NHC Amistad Córdoba where I enjoyed one of the best hotel rooms in Spain. My premium room here's nowhere near the level of Amistad. A few missteps not acceptable at an NHC: Slippers and bathrobes missing upon arrival. A/C not working during my first night; even after receiving a good instruction brief upon arrival by the bellboy. Next morning, after suspecting it was all recirculating air I decided to ask about it at the front desk. Coincidentally, the maintenance person was right there and gave me the following strange explanation: Many guests complain about the room getting too cold so we turn off the A/C, but if you want it working I will turn it on right away. 10 minutes later the air was working fine. Quick solution to a problem I shouldn't have had. On my second morning the face towels were missing. Again a really minor nuisance, but not expected at an NHC Collection hotel. And finally, although all brochures make reference to a full renovation in 2014, it seems the hotel will need a new one soon, or much better...
Read moreThe staff deserve 5* - charming and helpful. Unfortunately, although I had booked a premium room, and telephoned ahead to establish that there were proper showers with this grade of room, I was transferred to a disabled equipped room, in order to give me a walk in shower. I walk with sticks and am not happy climbing into a bath. I checked that it was to be a premium room because it’s my partner’s birthday and I wished it to be special. However, the room, although quite well dressed and presented, is dark and looks out onto a fire escape and aircon shafts. The room above is obviously undergoing refurbishment because banging/work commenced first thing. ||The hotel is full and it’s unfair to criticise staff who can only work with what they are given.||My main question is why are disabled people treated as 2nd class citizens? Why are we to be given the only rooms in the building that have absolutely no view - premium rooms are advertised with a view! Elsewhere the published information is that other, rear facing rooms, look out over a courtyard. The actual bathroom is very well equipped but why couldn’t it be attached to a beautifully situated room? ||I’m sad to leave this review because I have always liked NH Hotels and in particular,...
