Sofu Hotel — Hotel in New Taipei

This is a budget hotel, nothing fancy but if you just need a cheap place to stay overnight, it's a good option.The rooms are clean and the staff are very kind. Amenities: filtered water dispenser in the hallway with both hot and cold water. Within the room you will find slightly old but clean towels for the bathroom, tea, coffee, soap, shampoo, toothbrush, razor and a shower cap. Cable TV in the room and free wi-fi. There is a refrigerator that is shared by all visitors in the storage room. I stayed here for 5 nights. It's not very quiet for the walls are not totally soundproof. Expect to hear people talking in the hallways or occasionally opening and closing doors. However, after midnight it's pretty quiet. Bring earplugs if noise bothers you. It's an upgrade from the hostels where you have to share bunk beds and sleep with strangers in the same room. For half the price of a hotel room in the vicinity of Taipei, I think it's quite affordable. It's ten-minute walk from Fuzhong MRT Station. Taxi fare from the MRT station to the hotel cost me $80NT. It's located in front of a small park. Nearby you will find family and 7-Eleven convenience stores, Pxmart Supermarket, a few drugstores, and lots of restaurants. Of course, don't expect to get the quality of a 4 star hotel that cost twice as much or you will be disappointed. Sofu Hotel is recommended if you're traveling on a budget, the place is location wise, just near the blue line MRT, markets, temples, Lin Family Mansion, restaurants, coffee shops and many convenience stores.
