Jiantan Mountain is located in the neighborhood of Jiantan Station (Exit 2) of the Taipei Metro (MRT). When you get off the train, follow the sign and walk across the road. The entrance of the trail is right next to a small temple.
Along the trail there are a number of badminton courts and fenced spots for recreational use. Singing is often heard, and litter is not rarely seen. You do not find much peace and quiet here, but, unfortunately, more disturbance.
When you arrive at the observatory, however, you will be attracted by the expansive view. Jiantan Mountain is in fact one of the few places nearest to the center of Taipei where you can see planes taking off and landing.
I suggest that you continue and arrive at the Laodifang (the Usual Place) to take in a different view.
After that you can return to where you went or choose to get out at Lane 282, Section 5 of Zhongshan North Road (near Ming Chuan University) or Lane 165, Tongbei Street (near Shih Chien University).
