Shilin Public Market — Local services in Taipei

IMO night markets have changed. They don’t feel as bustling and diverse as before. Half the shops now feel like they are selling drinks or deserts. What happened to all those handmade food items and stalls? Like where’s the sausage? Or the scallion cakes? The black pepper balls? Pigs blood? Corn? Also all the little shop that use to sell products seem to all be claw machines now.

With that said Shilin was the busiest of the handful we went to during our recent stay.

They still have some games around and if you go behind the temple there’s another area with the type of games and rewards from back in the day. A little sketchy feeling, but felt like the OG games. So many foods and unique shops. Things have changed a lot in the last 30 years but the place is still quite unique.
