This place calls itself a 5-star hotel, so I'm gonna rate it as if it was a 5-star hotel. I am staying on the 4th floor in Building A. The very first thing I noticed upon exiting the elevator was a strong base smell that smelled like a dead rat stuck in the central air system. That smell also permeated my room. After about 15 minutes, my nose got used to the smell, but it left me with a headache. Local guests seemed to not notice the smell at all. When I booked, the pictures of my room showed a nice view of the not-so-beautiful city of Zhongli. My view was actually just a concrete pillar. The floor of my room was very uneven, as if when it was originally built, the builders didn't bother to fully level the floors. The hotel claims soundproofing, but I've stayed in enough hotels in Taiwan to know that "soundproofing" in Taiwan just means there's some sort of barrier that's slightly thicker than pressboard between the rooms. It is not soundproof at all. I can clearly hear (and feel) every stomp from the child upstairs at 11pm. I can VERY clearly hear when any of the doors on this floor slam... and they always slam, rather than shutting slowly (another sign of poor build quality). There appear to be businesses on both the 3rd and 5th floors, and workers start *slamming* doors and dropping heavy objects on the floors *constantly* starting at 6am. So unless you're the heaviest sleeper in the world, don't expect to sleep past 6am. The amenities in the room and in the bathroom are of 2-star hotel quality. Yes, the hotel has a fancy gift shop and an expensive restaurant where everything is either 888 or 1888 or 6888, but things like that don't make for a 5-star hotel, not by any sort of international standard, anyway. All that said, it's not a *bad* hotel for Taiwan for its current discounted price. Nearly all Taiwan hotels have issues with slamming doors, a lack of soundproofing, and bad smells that the locals can't detect. At least it was clean and the bed was comfortable and, unlike most Taiwan hotels, it actually had pillows that were not huge and stiff (the usual Taiwanese preference).

After our long 12 hour flight from Vancouver, we were in need of refreshments and a shower. We arrived at the front of Hotel Kuva Chateau and were instantly welcomed by a friendly staff member. He took all our bags and placed them carefully on the luggage dolly. Upon checking in we were also pleasantly impressed by the staff speaking English at these premises. They have good conversational English and are very helpful. We were a bit early checking into our rooms, however she did offer us all a shower in the 5th floor where the pool and gym was. It was really nice! The shower stalls have a place to hang your things. Lockers. A sitting area with toner and moisturizer. I loved how the shower stalls have push button shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Downstairs there’s a restaurant and a coffee bistro. The Zhongli night market is just a 10 minute walk away. Definitely a bonus. The facility is very clean and organized. I really enjoyed my stay here. I just wanted to thank the whole staff/team for an amazing experience. This won’t be the last time here. I’ll definitely be recommending your location to my colleagues, friends, and family. The bar is set higher here. Complementary tooth brushes and paste. Q tips. A hair comb. Dude, most places in Canada don’t even offer those in the hotel washrooms.

The location of the hotel is great - next to a Youbike station, a park and the famous Zhongli night Market. Rooms wise it is spacious and the bed is comfy. Only issues were that the female staff that served us initially was rather rude when I asked her if she could help throw our rubbish because we couldn't find any bins nearby (or tell us where it is and we can throw it ourselves), and when we asked for simply a half hour extension of checkout time from 11 to 1130am, of which she said we'd have to pay. So rude. In the end I called later that night and another staff who answered the phone readily allowed us to stay until 1130am with no issues! Secondly, the room they initially gave us had a really strong pee smell in the toilet. We thought it was a sewage problem and called the staff up. They were prompt to change rooms for us, and the other room had no such stench, so kudos to them for their prompt and efficient service. Overall, the rooms are a bit dated. You can tell it was a really fancy hotel back in the days, but overall it's not bad at all except for the initial staffs attitude and our initial rooms issue. We couldn't use any of the facilities due to level 3 covid measures in Taiwan.

An average large older hotel, but the rooms are still priced high. As usual Trip.com showed a price when first viewed, then with the now normalized lefty globalist fraud of constantly changing price for fixed product/service, like airline tickets, the app updated to a higher price. Nothing new with decades of Linnaeus' greediest bringing ever worsening greed, unaffordability, quality, value, to everything under guises of "luxury" with no actual benefit/improvement. Many fundamental amenities of a western world $100usd+ price are not provided, such as There are no sidewalks to/from the hotel so watch out walking in the street. There's no cover from rain/sun at the entry. It's also ~15 min walk from the MRT west to this hotel if you don't taxi. Nearby convenience are severely lacking, and you must travel further for better options. Lobby was pretty crowded, but check in was quick. The room was dated interior, wood/browns, carpet, but clean and large over 500ft2. No Japanese toilets is a downer, for the (ever increasing despite continuous improvement in efficiency and lowering costs of every sublevel product/service) price, along with the try yoga and turn around push the flush tank button on the toilet. The breakfast/meal is steep over $20usd. Trip.com advertised a pool, the only hotel around the area with one, but upon arrival, the pool was not open despite hot weather. Trip.com also advertised a (additional fee) children's playground, which turned out as "we don't have that". So we got duped on our groups 2 biggest reasons for this hotel. Luckily there is a park across the street with kids playground. The moderate sized night market is less than 10 minutes walk south. Not much else around the area, its just the area with cheaper hotels just south of the bizarre overpriced all-trivial-product-brands-are-now-luxury "outlets" mall, that notably lacks food options, and sun/rain cover. As a note, we asked for an item from the front desk, and they told us to come down and get it lol. However, I must also note, despite the old rotary dial controls, the room aircons were very cold, and clean! But the little refrigerator was hardly cold and not adjustable. Also power outlets in the room were very limited and you have to unplug some items to plug your devices. The 2 TVs in the room were "smart" and had apps like youtube in them, that's nice. And they gave 4 water bottle in the room for 1 night. No disposables like toothbrushes/paste though. There were big windows in the room. Lots of room space, but Small couch wont fit 3 people. Nice big bathtub and separate shower. Bed and pillows were soft enough for sleep without issue, but not the Best. They are not greedy and allow the normal 11am checkout. Didn't use the wifi so its unknown. So pro's and cons...

This should not be considered a 5 star hotel.||I live in Taipei and paid for a 2 night stay here in an Executive Double Room. I mainly chose this hotel because it has a swimming pool and gymnasium.||POSITIVES||- Staff tried to be helpful|- Whiskey Bar / restaurant very nice|||NEGATIVES||- I arrived to find that the swimming pool and gymnasium was closed! Staff told me that I 'should have checked the website because they close for maintenance on a Monday and it tells you in the website'. I did check the website and it DID NOT mention this. Very disappointed not to be able to use the facility for a full day. And then.... I found out the Swimming pool didn't open until 1pm the next day.... This means people checking out in the morning cannot use it. It makes no sense.||- I wanted to order food in the Whiskey restaurant upstairs. I wanted dumplings but they had seafood in, so I changed my order (I cannot eat seafood). I ordered the Shanghainese soup and I asked the staff 'DOES THIS HAVE FISH OR SEAFOOD INSIDE'? The staff said no...... then after 30 minutes the food finally came and it had seafood inside. I am allergic to seafood!!! :-/||- The first room I was given has a window view and when I opened the curtains, I was facing a brick wall. It was so close and I couldn't see anything else.||- Breakfast was very bad quality. It looks like there is some good option but the quality is very, very bad. ||- During the day there was some kind of house agent conference happening upstairs, On break time they all stood outside the entrance smoking, and people had to walk through them to get in and out of the hotel. I had to ask staff to ask the people to go to the smoking area. This should not be my job.||- WIFI was very bad and insecure. ||- Hotel room was dirty with old furniture. Curtains had big dirt stains on them. Chair had white stains on and black hair. TV stand had tissue underneath the leg. Only 2 pieces of notepad paper.||||Overall, I could not stay another day. I could not do my work and so many things happened that I was in such a bad mood to try and enjoy the experience.|When I did leave, no staff even asked me why I was leaving early or if everything was ok.... until I was already walking away from the hotel, a member of staff came out and stated that I was leaving early. ||Just to add: I was able to change rooms to one with a better view and I was given a free breakfast because of the swimming pool being closed, which I appreciate and thank the staff for helping me.||I will not be...
