We've stayed here for 2 nights. It seems that is pretty new hotel, with big, but simply furnished rooms and a hydromassage shower in the bathroom (with sometimes hot and sometimes cold water). The rooms and the bathroom were clean. Pigeon Hotel is located 1 km from the center, but it is very close to the market and local food stalls. ||||Big advantage of this hotel is quite well working wifi and the roof top bar but there is also a BIG disadvantage ... a mean the service. Service is in general very slow and not well trained. The first odd impression was by the check in - the system didn't work so we couldn't get our room key - they just opened the room and said that we have to wait for the key. Other thing - they give just one towel to the bathroom and when I asked for a second one I have to wait about 30 minutes. Next day, after cleaning, they left again just one towel. In the roof top bar we've ordered Martini with Sprite and a portion of popcorn - "delivery time" for Martini - 10 min, Sprite - 20 min, Popcorn - 60 min (sic!) and we were in general the only guests. But the "funniest" thing came to the end. We've booked that accommodation via Booking.com. Booking.com confirmed our stay with information that we'll be charged in a local currency but the receptionist wanted just US Dollars. I don't wanted to pay in USD but finally I accepted that and paid 108 USD bill. The receptionist wanted just 100 or 50 USD bills and I had just 10's so it was a problem again. Finally after an unpleasant discussion he agreed to take the 10's, but I think it was a bit awkward situation, especially that I didn't receive any that kind of information before.||||In Mwanza are just few hotels and this one in my opinion has quite good value for money despite a...
Read moreI stayed here for a couple of weeks while working in Mwanza and was very happy with the hotel and my room. The rooms are fairly simple in decoration but have a fridge, tv, air conditioning (so no bed nets). I had to ask for a safe, but the staff brought me one within a day. Sometimes power would go out as one might expect in Africa. The hotel seemed a bit reluctant to turn on their generator unless you asked, but once I did this, they made sure it was turned on. The WiFi works well throughout the hotel.||||The reception staff were friendly and helpful with anything we asked about. The location is a bit out of town, so you need a taxi to go into town at night or walk in during the day which takes 15-20 minutes.||||The major downside of the hotel is the food from the menu (the breakfast is fine), which takes longer than average for Mwanza (often around an hour or more) and is of a fairly poor standard. Considering the high prices they charge for the food (same prices as Tilapia), it is worth eating elsewhere even if you do have to pay for a taxi. On the plus side, the bar on the 7th floor has a brilliant view of Lake Victoria and some of the staff were friendly. If you are going to eat, ask for your food here, not on the...
Read moreThe hotel is very clean and very well maintained. The view for top floor bar is breathtaking. The hotel has a good parking space and is very well secured.||We had booked this hotel for about 50 guest of ours who had visited Mwanza for some function. The staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Since our guests were out most of the time, the only meal we had there was the breakfast. The breakfast was quite impressive in terms of both quality and quantity. We didn't receive any complains from any of our guest throughout their stay which is quite impressive on it own.||I highly recommend this hotel to anyone...
