Fahmi Kendwa Villa — Hotel in Unguja

I hate to write such a bad review, as Josh who works there was such a sweet and kind person who does his best in a very bad situation. ||But where start? Taxi driver couldn't find it as it is nowhere near where it says it is, on arrival we were taken up a rotting, rickety metal staircase which was completely unsafe, the "air con" blew hot air on us all night until I turned it off fearing death, the bed then broke, the "pool" was filthy. ||So after the worst first night and knowing we had booked four more nights we asked for a refund on the basis that the hotel was unsafe, false advertising and not fit for any guests. This was point blank refused by the owner who we spoke to on the phone, stating the money had already been taken to the bank. I wish now I'd called the police like the other reviewer. ||We were moved to a downstairs room that the lady making the breakfast was asked to vacate. All in all very awkward and uncomfortable. Still no air con or wifi. I know this is Africa...but this is not advertised as a budget hell hole and not a particularly budget price. ||This is a terrible place, the owner obviously has no interest in maintaining it or looking after the staff and guests....

To avoid absolutely ! We had booked a stay for 9 people at Fahmi Kendwa Villa in advance via Booking. When we arrived on December 28th, exhausted from the flight with all our backpacks (and after wondering for a while, as the hotel was not were it was supposed to be on the map, and furthest from the beach as supposed to), we very suprised when the manager said there was a "little problem", the little problem being that they only had two double rooms, that is to say a place to stay for 4 of us ! He offered to put mattresses on the floor of the second room for the other to sleep, and that we would get a "big discount". This was in no way acceptable, and all of us had to take our backpacks again and go wonder in search on another hotel. When we told Booking what happened, Fahmi Villa dared reply that they were "perfectly capable to host us". They forgot to mention that it was on...

Nous nous sommes rendus dans cette hôtel un soir tard et j’avais réservé une chambre pour quatre nuits sauf que quand je suis arrivé dans l’établissement tout a changé! ||Il y avait encore des cheveux dans la douche je n’avais pas de papier toilette encore le dentifrice de la personne qui était passé avant cracher dans le lavabo des capsules de bière derrière le canapé et des draps sales! Je suppose que la chambre avait été faite de manière rapidos pour notre arrivée à repliant des draps!||C’est pour cela que j’ai demandé au jeune homme de la réception de ne passer qu’une seule nuit ici et non pas les quatre surtout que celui-ci m’avait annoncé qu’il ne pouvait pas me prélever via Booking! Il me dit alors que si je ne passe qu’une seule nuit autant que je parte maintenant chose que je fais, 3 km après mon départ je reçois un message WhatsApp de ce cher jeune homme en me disant qu’ils allaient me prélever les quatre nuits sur booking vu que je n’étais pas resté(c’est quand même fou comme on peut prélever d’un moment à un autre alors qu’on me demander du cash 30 minutes avant^^)||J’ai donc fait demi-tour et je me suis mise très en colère en disant que j’allais rester là mais que j’allais payer avec Booking et non pas en cash celui-ci a appelé son patron et j’ai dû le menacé d’appeler la police et même de faire le numéro! ||Une horreur obligé de discuter jusqu’à 1h30 du matin pour qu’au final je passe une nuit dans un endroit très sale que lui-même avait constaté pour payer 80 $ la nuit en cash bien sûre et partir le lendemain de manière sereine!||En bref le personnel est vraiment très gentil car le jeune homme n’y était absolument pour rien mais le boss est des plus mauvaises personne que j’ai pu voir sur cette ile...
