It is very disappointing to pay for the hotel and come to the room and find that the AC is not working properly! It’s impossible to sleep at night from the heat!! The pool also looks very dirty. When you look for staff in the reception there is nobody. Would not recommend!
First of all, we (couple) had our booking from 28th to 30th. Our friends decided to join and we booked this hotel for them from 26th to 29th (we were staying at another hotel at that time). Our friends had the worst experience. We brought them at 7 am to keep the luggage at the reception and there was nobody at the reception and no staff to talk to. We brought them with us to our other hotel until around 11am, they came back and told them to wait again to finish cleaning the room. They waited for 2 hours (knowing that the flight landed at 4:30 am and we’ve been waiting since then). After they finally got the room, the AC doesn’t work! They said they would fix it and nothing was done about it. They couldn’t sleep at night at all. The AC kept turning off on its own. They had to check out 1 day earlier on the 28th. That’s when we checked in around 3pm, we asked to have a room with good AC. We checked in, the AC again keeps turning on and off and the remote of the AC doesn’t even work. The room is FULL of mosquitoes!!!! We spent the night trying to kill all of them and they won’t finish’ why there’s no mosquito spray??? And how can you give guests a room full of mosquitoes!!! Plus the mattress is like you’re sleeping on a rock.! The day of check out I received a call around 12 to take our luggage out of the room saying that another guest is waiting, we were eating at that time and asked to get our food takeway so we can come back fast and take the luggage out. When we reached we asked the staff at the reception, the lady who spoke with me on the phone, to send someone to help with our luggage knowing the room is far from the entrance and all sand so we cannot roll our luggage. Nobody came. I asked again through whatsapp. NO ANSWER!!! We had to take the luggage on our own through the whole way. And we gave the key for checkout. We got into our taxi and we’re leaving and they closed the gate stopped us from leaving (as per the lady in the reception’s request). We asked what’s happening they said they need to check the room first. What is there to check???????? They kept us waiting until one of the staff went and checked the room then allowed us to leave. Both us and our friends had the worst experience ever. I would definitely not recommend this hotel again unless the staff is taught how to deal properly and respectfully with clients, and until the AC system and mosquitoes issue is solved. I’m very disappointed as this is the first time I encountered this in Zanzibar. I’ve been coming here for 3 years now and never has 1...
Read moreA lot of what this hotel has to offer is fantastic:- The location and the staff were 10 out of 10! The rooms are a little disappointing- spotlessly clean and large but nowhere to hang your clothes!! Not even a chair! I asked for something and it was brought quickly - a large ladder upon which I could hang my clothes and a chair. Perfect but housekeeping should have thought of this first. Bathrooms are very old but adequate. || Ok so here comes the bad part! On Booking.com it does warn you of a beach party on Friday nights and that you can cancel your booking if you wish. What it doesn’t say is that if you don’t mind not having any sleep whatsoever then carry on with your booking! The thumping music went on til 5.30 am - Right outside my room. The clientele of the hotel was not young - there were a few young women (not in their twenties) and lots of older couples and then older single guests such as my friend and myself. Most of the people who came were not staying in the hotel - lots of locals and travellers. Anyhow since we were only staying one Friday during our 9 day visit we kind of laughed it off…. Until we discovered that the “restaurant “ next door was in fact a nightclub! They opened on the Saturday night and this went on until 9.am when we were having breakfast!! I was so angry (and tired having arrived with jet lag and then the next two nights impossible to sleep. During the day the barman behind the beach bar played thumping music most of the day even though I and other guests requested something a little more melodic and chilled!! It is a party location so if you come to Zanzibar to relax do...
Read moreWe recently stayed at a hotel in Paje and overall had a pleasant experience, especially considering the affordable price.||The location was definitely one of the highlights — it’s right on the beach, with plenty of great restaurants within walking distance. The staff were lovely and welcoming, and the pool area was a great place to relax, with a good number of sunbeds available throughout the day. We also enjoyed the food at the hotel restaurant, particularly in the evenings.||That said, there were a few downsides to our stay. Housekeeping wasn’t always consistent — our room was left unclean at times and we didn’t receive fresh towels, only later finding out we needed to hand our key directly to the cleaner, which wasn’t communicated clearly.||Communication overall was a bit of a challenge. For example, we were told initially that there would be no card fee, only to be informed at checkout that a charge would apply. The exchange rate offered for converting dollars to Tanzanian shillings was also the worst we came across during our trip.||Breakfast could be improved too — there were quite a few flies on the pastries each morning, which was off-putting. Lastly, there was a lot of construction and building work happening around the property during our stay, which detracted a bit from the otherwise relaxing atmosphere.||Despite these issues, the hotel offered good value for money, and with a few improvements in communication and cleanliness, it could be a fantastic place to...
