Oh boy - I don’t know where to start. Maybe by pointing out that the position on Google Maps is incorrect. Lecker Lecker Restaurant is located right behind Ananda Beach House. Even though you might not find it instantly, it is worth every second of your search.
This place offers you everything you could ask for when being in Paje. Sounds like a huge promise? Lecker Lecker Restaurant will live up to it with ease.

Looking for someone who is genuinely good-hearted and a cool guy to talk to about Zanzibar, Suaheli or cooking? This is the right place for you.
Even when we were looking to book a trip to Stone Town, rent a scooter or get a taxi to the airport, Mr Lecker Lecker got us the best prices and value. He is an amazing guy to make tours with, as he has lived in different parts of the island and knows what really matters. He even took the time to teach us some basic Suaheli without demanding anything.
Unfortunately, there are some people in Paje with are only interested in your money - for understandable reasons, still, it is demanding to always question people and their offers. With Mr. Lecker Lecker, you have reliability and kindness in every aspect.

Read moreFood was ok. The salad was a mix a julienned carrots, peppers, onions, and tomatoes. It had a strong vinagar dressing on it.
I also had a vegetable curry which was not so good. It clearly had some sort of sauce on it but it was pretty flavorless. Adding lots of salt from the table is the only thing that made it palatable. There was a lot of rice but not much curry.
Service was friendly and I was greeted when I came in.
I waited quite a long time to get my food and people who came in after me and ordered after me got their food before I did which was kind of annoying.
When I got my bill the lady had marked the salad up by an extra 10,000 tsh... from 7,000 to 17,000. That seems a little fishy, as if she was trying to get 10,000 extra shillings out of me. Surely a server that works there would/should know the correct price of the food that she serves every day, especially since it is easily seen right there on the menu. I pointed out that she charged me too much and she seemed confused but did reduce the price to what it was supposed to be when I pointed out the correct price on the menu.
My advice to patrons would be to check your bill and make sure you're not getting overcharged.
I would not eat there again. There are many places with similar prices that have much better tasting food and larger portions, and where they don't try to...
Read moreBe aware that lecker lecker is located behind Villa Kiota, google maps shows the wrong location unfortunately. Its only 10min walk from mahali and its really worth the walk. The best food we had in paje for super fair price. Mr. Lecker Lecker really goes the extra mile, if something is not available he will try to get it if you are willing to wait for a bit. We wanted to try durian so he sent someone to get it for desert although its not on the menu even without extra charge. I would go there anytime again, highly recommended. Mosquito repellant is provided, restrooms are clean, food is fresh, juices are made by fresh local fruits upon request. I would even bring my children there and I am Swiss, so no worries in terms of cleanliness and food in general. Its not a tourist trap and really provides an amazing local experience at a cheap price. You definitely miss something if you dont visit Mr. Lecker Lecker...
