Kamala Tropical Garden — Hotel in Kamala

We stayed here for just over a week in Jan 2020 and we absolutely loved it, it is a small peaceful hotel with all the rooms facing the pool, this makes it very sociable and you often get chatting to other guests which we really enjoyed. The staff are great, Air is brilliant receptionist and helped us loads during our trip with recommendations for the best massage and even going out of her way to help us track down a lost credit card, thank you so much. The manager was also nice but seemed like he had a lot to deal with and we did find him a little bit angry at times. Rooms are spacious and clean and with small kitchenette which we found really useful. The location is perhaps the only slight let down, it is just off a busy road and even though its close to all the other shops you are just a bit removed from the other tourist stuff by the beach and can be a bit noisy at night. Despite having a confirmed booking on check in I was told the room I booked was ‘full’ for my first night and I was told I could cancel my 5 day booking by the obnoxious, argumentative owner who actually wanted me to cancel because he wanted to rent the room at a higher rate than I’d paid. |His staff took me to an appalling room used by staff/migrant workers. I refused to stay and spent 2 hours searching around Kamala but could not find an empty room anywhere due to it being New Year. |I had no choice but stay in the disgusting room that you wouldn’t pay 300b to stay in. To make matters worse the owner told me I’d have to pay the full room rate 2550b. A total joke. He would not listen to reason and also told me I had to pay in cash!!|I’ve stayed here 20+ times under the previous UK owner/Manager and everything was great.|The new owner has zero business sense and was totally unreasonable about the situation. We arrived to Phuket late due to our flight being delayed and when we got to the hotel, it was completely dark, making it look like it was closed. It turns out the front desk is only staffed until 9 PM. When I checked my messages, I saw that they had contacted us while we were still in the air, informing us that the guest in the room we had booked had missed their flight. They essentially told us to find somewhere else to stay. This was an awful start to our trip, as we were left without a place to stay for three hours, trying to find another hotel, but due to EDC happening, every place was fully booked. Not only did this hotel cancel my reservation last minute, but they also did the same to our friend. Avoid this hotel at all costs!! They can choose to cancel your reservation at anytime to fit...
