My first time to Ko Samet for an overnight, and I wanted a quiet getaway just to relax without all the activity. This place was perfect for that. Stayed in one of the beachfront bungalows, and while I would prefer that they didn't have the music during the day, it wasn't really that bothersome, and they turn it off by 6PM, so the morning and evening are wonderfully peaceful. Room #2 seems a bit better than #1 where I stayed, since it's set back a bit so a little more private.||Had breakfast and dinner at Samed Villa next door, and both were very good. They have a Fire Show at 7:30. Also got a massage there, and that was outstanding. Had lunch at TubTim on the other side, and that was good as well. The bar is quite nice, and drinks are very good, both alcohol and non. Went for runs both mornings, and though the roads are quite hilly and challenging, traffic was minimal with plenty of space, so not stressful at all.||Took a walk down to Sai Kaew beach, which is ~20min, and need to walk in parts on the narrow road with traffic. Definitely glad I chose the quiet area, since it was quite loud and crowded, but lots of fun nightlife options if that's your interest. ||They do have some construction going on during the day, which can be a little distracting, but again not terrible. I'm a little concerned that all the new construction may detract from the peace and quiet, but hopefully they'll be able to...
Read moreBungalows with all the trimmings and conveniences for beachside life. Air/con in room safe minibar.. bathroom ensuite.. flat screen TV and the beach close enough to hear the waves at night... mosquitos are prolific.. even with the tools.. have some repellent available. Beach side bar .. extensive .. coffee beer and both mock and cocktails .. check in casual.. lounge style.... the bar restaurant has a small menu and only operates limited hours..mostly at lunch time .. cool tunes yellow beach umbrellas and loungers all round with white sand makes this the best hang out between all the beaches... also.. not so busy with social distancing placement of the umbrellas and loungers making guests feel safe and comfortable...
Room wise Small doors.. if you are a tall human.. DUCK.. a few knocks on the head soon got some sense into me. Room turnover and minibar refreshed daily or on request.
There are some songteaws in the area but more opportunities at the next up beach and resort.
Well worth it for atmosphere beach and standard of accommodation. 5 stars all the way!.....
Fast forward to 04 April 2022.. Lots of changes... And a clear indication of expansion happening all around the property..with big and bigger things to come... All still holds true.. albeit some minor wear and tear differences .. but still at a high standard compared to my first experience a year ago. Smiles...
Read moreFunny place. It’s a part of a decent resort Tamarind. But old bungalows that were not replaced. I wouldn’t hesitate taking this room if I come with a group of friends, as we had fun having little party and drinks at our door steps. We didn’t bother anyone because the beach right in front is reserved for hotel guests and nobody is there at night. But we’re matured and kind people, didn’t make troubles. However, if you’re a light sleeper or want some privacy and romance you would rather stay somewhere else as your veranda exit to a public walkway and room itself has almost no sound proofing. We stayed one night, tho…
One thing to mention is their mattress is terrible. It’s hard as sleeping directly on a floor. We only stayed one night moving here from another resort to be close with our friends who stayed at Tamarind. But I can’t imagine sleeping on this deck for 3-4 nights, I wouldn’t feel rested.
Tamarind hotel & Reef beach club staff are wonderful. Even many of them are trainee and sometimes don’t understand what you say, the whole team is trying hard to make guests feel comfortable and satisfied. We spent every day here across 4 nights in Koh Samed including New Year’s Eve dinner and it...
