We had a lovely family trip! The hotel is truly stunning! beautiful design, high-quality materials, and a perfect location by the beach. We especially appreciated the amazing service from Ploy at the front desk and the housekeeping team, guys in bar and restaurant – were friendly and attentive.
The rooms were well-designed and very comfortable. It’s clear that a lot of care went into the interiors and small details, which we really appreciated.
However, we did run into a disappointing moment during breakfast. The buffet is open until 10:30 AM, aat 10:30/31– maybe less then one minute late – when my kids wanted to grab one more omelet. The door was already closed, and when we asked the waiter if we could just get one more egg, he replied, “Sorry, breakfast is closed” and there were cleaning the egg station already. While we understand rules are rules, it felt unnecessarily strict and inflexible.
We brought it up at the front desk(not Ploy), but the reply – “So, do you want egg?” and then “situation doesn't make sense” – felt a bit dismissive and left us feeling uncomfortable(maybe language barrier?). That small interaction left a bad taste in our mouths and unfortunately affected our mood for the rest of the day.
Also worth noting: the breakfast selection was quite limited for vegetarians. It would be great to have more options for guests with dietary preferences.
Kind Suggestion for management: You have a truly special hotel with so much potential to become a top destination. A little more warmth, flexibility, smile and attention to guest needs would really take the service to the next level. We’d love to return someday hopefully to an even...
Read moreWhile we loved Samed Tamarind the first time we spent a night there just a few days prior to our second stay, our second time was met with frustration and gaslighting. Upon arrival we were given our welcome drink -no cool towels this time around, and then we were shown to our room, which was NOT the room we paid for. We booked a Sea view villa (the same one we booked a few nights earlier) and there is another room called the deluxe sea view which is cheaper, but the main difference is that in the sea view villa there is a separate entrance and foyer, while in the deluxe sea view, you enter through the balcony. When we approached the reception, we were told that this was the sea view villa, yes it says villa on the outside, but it is not! We were told it’s the same even though there are distinct difference and the sea view villa is substantially more expensive (around 2000baht more). We were charged the same as the previous stay which was for our sea view villa. We were finally able to switch to the correct room, but this really tainted our experience. No apologies were given to us by the ladies at reception for their mistake and they didn’t even acknowledge that they had made one. We were so excited to go back and stay the second night, but that will be our last visit after such an experience. We don’t know why they tried to put us in a cheaper room, but it seemed really sneaky. See pictures for evidence of my booking versus the different rooms. You will know you are in the sea view villa if you enter from a door (not a sliding glass door) and you have a foyer and an area to store luggage with built in wardrobe and an are...
Read moreToday marks a month since my trip to Samed Tamarind, visited from the 18th-21st of December 2024. Those days were definitely not enough, wish I had extended an extra day. From the start, was welcomed with a warm greeting from the front desk and every staff was absolutely lovely and helpful, a smile and a little conversation goes a long way as for Thai people warmth is most important. What made the trip memorable was the waiters from the beach bar, specifically Rit and Tee were amazing and THE BEST MIXOLOGIST at the reef lounge Dom. They made this trip memorable for us. The food during breakfast was great too, be mindful that there are no vegan options (so it’s best to check before you make your booking here to avoid being disappointed) Dinner is served early and is closed by 9pm, so best to make your reservations early.Room was beautiful and comfy, room service is available.
Pro Tip when visiting the island : 1.Bring your own mosquito repellants, cause they come strong at night. 2.Transport is available at the front desk if you need to travel out of the island at 200THB, there’s no Grab so have cash with you available. 3.Best drinks at the beach bar were their gin and tonic cocktail and this banana cocktail
Overall, great island, great resort,10/10, Koh Samed Tamarind I’m coming back for you.
