Seahorse Bungalow Not Good, Rude.
Was it miscommunication? Did we act like rookie tourists? Were we too sensitive regarding the issue? Were the hotel hosts just having a bad day and we were the tipping point?
Either way, this place had the WORST customer service..... horrible. Will not book them and will spread the negative word everywhere: trip advisor, Agoda, google. Also, my 1-star hotel Miss Times House was better and cheaper. So we left and went back to her. Seahorse does not deserve the rating they have. Nothing special here. Not actual bungalows. Just dorms placed next to each other. No view and smells funny. Have to drive a scooter to get to decent places to eat.
Our background: We are very experienced travelers. We're very laid back. We've been through a lot. We've used Agoda on all our bookings. No issues, until now. We've been in Thailand a week and stayed several places.
Highlights/overview (read further for details). checked in, no issues. we noticed the water was brown. This is where the big issues started. We mentioned it. Hotel people said to run the water for 5 minutes. We did and more. Cool. Ok. Still brown. room was far from reception, say 150 meters. No big deal. Internet signal weak. we weren't able to connect... Various reasons. I work in IT, but no need to drag why it didn't work. their employees (both men) yelled at me. The first one because I tried to show him the password they gave me. He seemed frustrated when I asked him to watch me type it in. The last one was about the water in our room. This is where he became aggressive. It was light brown, tint of yellow. This man raised his voice to a level of aggression. To the point where neighbors poked their head out to see the FUSS.
Details: I am aware that I will sound like a sensitive tourist.
asked for password. Man was rude. Their "w", looked very much like an "n" or "m". But apparently my confusion bothered the man. He was immediately frustrated. Didn't wait for me to type in the password as how I saw it so I could communicate my misunderstanding. Once I insisted he watch me enter in the wrong password. He gets upset and says "W" very sternly. Feeling confused. I left to my room brushing it off. the Internet worked, but when I arrived to my room, the Internet stopped working.
We were still concerned about our brown water. When we asked to have someone come to our room to see it, they were very frustrated. We were nice about asking them to come see. They had the bell boy follow, but then this other man tagged along. He came in and basically said it was because of the light in the bathroom. The light is yellow. Wrong. The light was florescent. His logic was not sound. He grabbed a glass cup and told me to view the water outside in the daylight. Sure, I get his point. However, I showed him my white light that I had. 650 lumens. Shined it into the white porcelain bowl. And this is where he escalated his tone to something I can call shouting. I proved to him that the water is indeed brown. Disclaimer, had they said this was normal or took a small amount of time to simply say.... Yeah, that's how it is. Sorry. Nope. This man straight up yelled at me at a level where the foreign neighbors popped their head out to watch.
It was clear it was time for us to leave and check out. Luckily, Agoda allowed me to have a good faith refund as this was my first problem and request for a refund.
Go to Miss Times House. She's better,...
Read moreOk for the money. The hotel comprises many small buldings 1 /2 floors and separate elevated wooden houses in Thai style - all scattered over a big area. Office (reception) is at the beach restaurant. The hotel seems have double name: Sea Horse 2/Green Place-maybe marketed differently for separate markets including Chinese (for groups). Our "Standard" room was small but clean. We noticed that a TV set was removed - so the hotel manager gave us another bigger room in another building (by the way the staff was friendly), The breakfast was included and it was not bad. The beach here is quite good though we liked more Ao Wai beach. In daytime high tide, in the evening low tide in the beaches, Motorbike rent was 500 thb per day in Vongduaen beach. The dinner food is not so cheap in the beach restaurants in Vongduaen. The food is good and inexpensive in the main tourist area near Sai Kaew beach. There is a daily boat from Vongduaen Resort to Ban Phe Pier at 8.15 in the morning (70 thb) - you can just come at 8.00 - cannot book in advance. There are also boats 2 times from another part of Vongduaen beach : at 12:00 and 1 more time (same price 70 thb). And we arrived to the hotel from Na Dan pier (40 thb per person in songhteo)+ paid 300 thb per person -...
Read moreI paid more for a bungalow as I had read the rooms may be noisy. Didn't make any difference as the Chinese only know 2 volumes. Shout as loud as possible (default) total silence (when eating) the only time where peace could be found is when the tours were changing over. Breakfast was a nightmare. Most stuff was gone already. The last day all the seats were taken indoors so we sat outside with the flies and on wet seats as nobody could be bothered to wipe the rain off. The comfortable beach seating outside is usually taken by fat sweaty ticket sellers lounging all over the cushions. I think since the decision to take Chinese tours they just don't care about...
