I really dislike posting a negative review but our hopes for this stay won’t be met.
I booked two ‘Deluxe Pool Rooms’ for my family. I wrote an extensive explanation as to why we are so disappointed but reviews here are limited so I’m unable to fully express our genuine concerns. I’ll post a full review in booking dot com.
Suffice to say:
Room facilities are poor mainly due to very little space. For example there is no desk and no sofa as advertised.
We travel light so we don’t carry much; they only have one small cupboard & strangely it’s in the shower room. There’s bed is very comfortable; linens are great quality and pillows are lovely.
The TV shows the instructions to ‘cast’ your favourite streaming services. On day two I managed to get YouTube running (though not cast from my phone) but it was in a Chinese language. This didn’t bother me but it may frustrate some people.
Netflix failed to ‘cast’ once I’d paired my phone to the room. We called reception but no one was forthcoming & it wasn’t a big deal for us but it could be for some people who want to watch TV perhaps in poorer weather.
On arrival our patio area was not clean; it was littered with leaves and twigs from the bushes and ‘green debris’ from days gone by. While I understand there can be a strong breeze by the sea, there seems to be no one around to make your outside space a pleasant place to be.
We swept the area ourselves on day two. The bean bags on our patio are lovely. Very comfortable and a great place to sit and relax.
Breakfast.
The lovely young lady that took our room number showed us to our table but we felt for her as she tried her best to manage a very busy restaurant with new guests arriving all the time. There needed to be another person to help her. There was the last time we were here.
The egg station was constantly busy with a queue of 4-8 people waiting. The chef was overwhelmed. Some people walked away, me included.
The scrambled eggs alternative were powdered and inedible. The bacon tasted like salty cardboard. The fruit wasn’t chilled and just ‘ok’. The waffles and pancakes were cold and spongy and tasteless. There was no maple syrup, just honey.
Of the two main coffee machines one was showing full of coffee grounds rendering it useless until emptied and the other was malfunctioning because coffee was dripping at the rate of one spoons worth every 5 seconds. Consequently a lengthy queue developed quickly. Some people gave up and went elsewhere.
Outside at the pool:
Towels were hard to come by. Some of those we found were old and worn and colour faded. As in Europe, many people had selfishly ‘reserved’ a sun bed with a scrunched up towel but were absent for lengthy periods of time so sun loungers were hard to come by.
The pool itself was very nice, large and nicely designed. The kids section is excellent. We have yet to check out the beach area.
In summary, we paid a great deal of money to stay here because the last stay was so good but while some (or even all) of my complaints may seem petty or even unfair, I can assure you they are genuine and meant only to pre-warn potential new guests who would be spending their hard-earned money to stay.
Yes, it’s high season but that is no excuse for the obvious lack of staff in several areas to manage the guests needs and reasonable expectations. This is the most obvious sign of a hotel trying to save money at the expense of paying guests.
Yes, the majority of staff are very nice but clearly so rushed and overworked in such a way as it makes it very hard for them to do quality work and provide the service one would expect.
So far, it has been very disappointing and worse still, no chance of improvement.
Note to the Manager should they respond. My apologies for the review but I’m just being honest about our stay so far. We have 10 more days to go; perhaps some aspects may improve. Thank you...

Well I've been here 1 day of a 3 day stay and so far am underwhelmed by the hotel. Only spending 5 nights in Thailand, 2 in Bangkok and 3 in Ko Samui before continuing my travels, I hoped I would have been happier with my choice of hotel. Firstly I don't find the staff very friendly or attentive. I can only compare to my stay in Bangkok at a same star rated hotel, but here they do not seem very happy here. When I ask questions, for example this morning about getting a table for breakfast, do I sit anywhere I asked?, they look at you like you have sprouted a second head, and I repeatedly have to ask the same thing before getting a disgruntled response, and feels like I am bothering them. I have found this whilst speaking to reception and ordering drinks too so this is not an isolated member of staff. Are they unhappy to be working here? The first room I was allocated was with a pool view, and was told if I didn't like it I could upgrade to an ocean view. As soon as I looked out of the window and saw a roof, and stood on tiptoes and peered to the left could glimpse the pool, called reception to ask to upgrade (paying to I should add). I was told he would check, and then only to be told there were no upgrade options and no other same specification rooms, so was stuck with what I had. Well why be offered an upgrade when none are available? Hopes are raised only to be dashed. However with a little help from my TrailFinders representative they did "find" an alternative room with a view of the pool. Lastly the room is also underwhelming, quite small considering the width of the corridor to get into it. Why have such wide corridors and narrow rooms? Anyway the room is of similar size to the Bangkok hotel and that felt warm and inviting. This feels bland and quite stark, bathroom fixtures are tired and water damaged, the complementary water is left in the bathroom and warm, there is a fridge but this is not turned on, AC can only be on whilst you are in the room so you go back into a sauna during the hot and humid monsoon season. The fan is some strange one bladed affair that makes clonks on occasions probably due to the motor being under extreme pressure due to its strange design, what's wrong with a traditional fan design? Anyway - that's my view so far, if the next 2 days changes it I'll update you. The hotel will probably respond saying the fridge and AC are due to them being earth friendly, but my view is I as a person am very careful to not waste resources, and recycle everything that is possible when at home, but not at the detriment to my life - as we are only here once and for a short time only. Live a little let's have the AC on and the...

High speed wifi is available anywhere. ( Can be used in the beach area too.) Simple but clean room. Comfortable large bed (the linen is also good!) Comfortable shower room. Removable shower. Large sink. A lot of cosmetics can be put. Plenty of power outlet in the room. ( can be charged on both the left and right sides of the bed. Can also be charged on the writing desk) Competent and pleasant staff. Don’t miss the hamburger at Stacked restaurant! So delicious! Many convenience stores, restaurants and massage shops nearby. 10 minutes walk to Central Festival Shopping Mall. 7 minute walk to the food stalls. The swimming pool is quite large even in the Chaweng area. (Great, if jellyfish appears!) Separate toilets for men and women by the pool area. (4 to 5 private ladies toilets. Convenient!) The sea in front of the resort is beautiful. Plenty of beach beds and umbrellas. My hubby got the Birthday cake from the hotel.Thank you so much!
A breakfast buffet was more than adequate. More variety than last year such as daily changed curry and soup including green Thai curry, massaman curry, Indian curry and tom yam soup. Both Local food and Western food are available. A variety of bread. (2 types of toasters with one for plain bread and the other for Danish) Some juice such as orange juice, fruit, bacon, sausages, eggs, cheese, ham, and salads. Daily Thai dishes, such as Tom Yum chicken, fried rice, fried noodles and stir-fried vegetables. Porridge is available everyday. Soup noodles are made on the spot (every day). New from this year.
Coffee machines for coffee, cappuccino and espresso are available.
My favorite hotel in Samui. Highly recommended! ————————————-
Located in front of the best beach in Chaweng area. In addition to the beautiful beach, a huge swimming pool is a bonus! The room is slightly small and simple, but very clean, well-designed with lots of power outlets, a very comfortable bed and a big sink in the shower room. Free wifi is available throughout the hotel including beach area. All the hotel staff are very nice. Breakfast buffet is more than adequate and changes daily. I was surprised to find blue cheese, brie cheese, mortadella ham and smoked salmon in the buffet for the three star hotel! Don't forget to try some local food at the buffet, too. My favorites are green curry and massaman curry. We had lunch twice by the swimming pool and the service was great both time. I prefer local food to Western food at the hotel. Close to the hotel, there are many restaurants, convenience stores, money exchanges and laundries. My favorite restaurants are Duomo & Baci for Italian and Olive tree for Greek, and Tom yum goong at the night market & beach club at Buri Rasa for local food.
Highly...
