Let me count the ways in which this hostel was quite simply awful. 1. Our double bed suite was frankly a prison, lacking any windows or sources of natural light. 2. The "AC" box rooms have centralized cooling running through them only from 6 PM to 9 AM the next day. This means in the absence of any other form of air flow (remember there aren't any windows or any fans), the room can get incredibly stuffy, airless, and hot. 3. The "private" room's air conditioning is not only subject to the hostel's ridiculous policy but also that of your neighbors. Despite being in a pod by yourself, the cooling functions in a quadrant fashion, so your neighboring room's inhabitants feeling hot translates into your room's cooling being turned down—just so you can have the pleasure of waking up sweaty and out of breath. And all of this within that infuriating time period when they're supposed to be running the cooling! If I wanted to be a victim to my roommates' whims and fancies, I would have selected a dorm. 4. The place lacks any sort of ambiance and holds no events to bring people together. 5. The bathrooms are rarely cleaned. Once a day is hardly enough when the volume of people using it is high. There's pee on the seats, wet floors, and toilet paper strewn about soaking it all in. It also doesn't smell too great. 6. The temperature adjustment for the shower head is placed out of reach of women, unless you're of the Amazonian variety, you won't be getting your hands on that! 7. The "beds" are mattresses on the floor. 8. The electric outlet (yes, just the one) is inconveniently placed. 9. The receptionists are barely conversant in English and almost always rude, unhelpful, apathetic, and almost reluctant to acknowledge a paying customer's presence. Don't expect any help from them should you have a problem with the facilities. 10. A towel is not a suitable replacement for a blanket. 11. There aren't enough hangers to dry your clothes on. 12. There is no lift so expect to carry your luggage up by yourself with no help from the staff. On the other hand, the rooms are clean, they offer free usage of board games and hammocks, free printouts, and have a couple of nice people at...
Read moreI am really NOT recommended this place. I read so many reviews about these place before making reservation and they got many good reviews.
The hostel is converted from cinema. They have unique architecture I like about. The bad thing is the rooms are located in the cinema. They removed all seats and built the room there. It can be a serious tripping hazard when you step out of your room. look like they have only one common exit for all dorm. It can be very dangerous in case of fire!!! They have another door on the other end but it was locked.
For women shared bathroom, they have 3 shower rooms and 4 bathrooms and only one sink. I don't know how this can be possible for hostel. The setup has men/women restroom across from the hallway. That means I will see another person (opposite sex) in and out from the restroom. There is nothing wrong, but it is better to have some privacy. The light in bathroom is insufficient.
AC is too cold and cannot adjust temperature. I was almost getting sick in the next morning. I saw some other guests complaint about this as well.
I asked front desk for Airport transportation and they recommended taxi or shuttle bus (120 THB+). You can pay 100 THB if you buy from the bus. They avoid talking about local minibus. Eventually they told us 50 THB per person. I asked how frequent is the minibus. They said they don’t know but I found out the minibuses come almost every 5 mins. We took the minibus and other passengers told us it should be around 15-20 THB from where we were to...
Read moreOverall it was a nice stay at Holiday Station Hostel. Located right in Krabi Town Centre by walking street you are just minutes away from the weekend night market which operates Friday to Sunday.||The common area is large with plenty of seating (sofas/chairs) and a pool table. The girl on reception is a bit miserable but that’s her problem!||The room itself was adequate for the £5 a night. Although there are cheaper hostels about, this one had air conditioning and in the 37C heat that is extremely welcome. The private rooms with air con are box rooms like the ones in Japan so if you’re visiting Thailand to see wonderful hotel rooms, it’s not for you. Otherwise, I recommend it.||The shared facilities are really quite good for a hostel. You can get a hot shower and the showers and toilets were both very clean; toilet paper/ free shower gel/shampoo was provided.||The room I stayed in was a box room like the ones you hear about in Japan. This was ok though, it wasn’t...
