Had a good time eating here, mostly because of the atmosphere - it was patronised mostly by locals on a sunday morning. The ordering system is unique - instead of having a menu, the actual dimsum options were displayed in a row at the side of the store that we could select and pass to the staff to steam. Certain food items have their names displayed in thai only but it’s still easy to get by for foreign speakers since the food is already displayed.
The price is a mystery though, until you get the bill - but it’s still affordable. We paid 350 baht for around 5 plates of dimsum, two chawanmushi and two cold drinks.
The dimsum isn’t mindblowing, it’s regular nice old dimsum. It’s probably because we accidentally got too many pieces of ku chai kueh/chive dumplings (not sure what the thai name is) to try more interesting things. My fave out of the ones we tried were chawanmushi and sticky rice with green curry...
Read moreI had a nightmare experience here. Came on the recommendation of local friends, liked the clean space and pick-your-own setup. I told the servers that I can't eat peanuts in both English and Thai, and they definitely understood both. I asked if each steam basket I picked had peanuts, and they emphatically said they did not in Thai and again in English. Naturally, the first one I bit into did have peanuts. I guess I should have asked for my money back, but it was like 80 baht total and I had bigger things on my mind at that point. Like going into anaphylactic shock alone in a foreign country. I obviously didn't die, but I came close enough to majorly wreck a holiday. I don't suggest anyone with allergies come here. As for the taste, it was just ok - I don't think I'm much for Thai dim sum,...
Read moreOn the morning of our trip back, there’s nothing better than finding something quick and simple to eat. So this morning, we decided to try dim sum and found a well-known, long-established restaurant here in Krabi. We drove over to give it a try, and our first impression was great—the place was clean, spacious, and located right next to Krabi’s river, with beautiful views. Even though it’s near the road, there wasn’t much traffic passing by, making it a perfect location.
The food was tasty and full of authentic dim sum flavors, and all my friends loved it, as did I. One small thing, though—not a complaint, but more of a heads-up—is that if you order a lot of food, you might have to wait a bit longer. But that’s understandable and not really a downside, just something to...
