Beyond is the "only" place to stay in Klong Muang Beach when in Krabi province. Located in a perfect position(Comfortably distant from Ao Nang for some serenity, but still close enough to be in the thick it need be) playing a huge factor in the mine field of choices & variety of Krabi hotels out there available. On arrival to see it all with your own eyes , you'll immediately be casting away any doubts of the possiblity of any trick photography online (If anything youll actually end up having to pinch yourself at times to double check it isn't a dream , plus quickly realizing it's incredibly better in the flesh!!). A tropical paradise haven with all the bells & whistles of up market western resort- located on a "point" of the coastline, visibly surrounded by the scattered silhouettes iconic Thai islands along horizon- being a stones throw away only awaiting a private visit by yourself & local long boat operators. We never looked back ever on decision (hence the return trips)-its a real hidden gem of a spot . Beyond is situated right literally on the edge of a beach ,in a chilled out beachy area called Klong Muang Beach. With everything at your finger tips (ie. the iconic islands, quiet beaches, lil bars, cute restaurants, scooter hire, money exchange ,massage ,taxi, general store, long tail boat hire, etc) you wont need to venture far from resort ...otherwise anything else is a quick 10min trip to Ao Nang(a nerve center of night life ,shopping & restaurants). The resort itself is clean & well maintained lush gardened property with attentively professional staffed. After the conclusion of trialing the spectrum of rooms & comparing costs per night at Beyond Resort on multiple stays, the room budget selection is personally now valued heavily & influenced by our stays daily intenarary. Obviously the premium rooms came with amazing breathe taking views & comforts of being located within main complex building close to reception ,staff ,resort restaurant/bar etc. for those choosing a lazy chilled vacations. But with our last stay at the more "economically" priced room choice this time round, it turned out to be complimentary to our requirements rather than budget .As we focused "this" trip solely on more daily exploring of the province than utilizing resorts facilities ,we still had the flexibility as a optional choice to use at our discretion if a "relax in" day was chosen. Surprisingly we didn't feel like we were at any disadvantage with the more affordablely priced room at all, due to we still had all the fundamentals of other premium rooms including the breakfasts ,wifi etc. Our room was only in reality a comfortable air conditioned recovery point from our days adventures. Only "Cons" to be some what critical was: -mattress was extremely firm comparably to any place ever stayed but to be fair that's a personal comfort level. -that "modern vibe" of decor & fit out from the original stay feels perhaps like its starting to date a lil...its still satisfactory but time is a enemy of all so evidence of its age is beginning to show a lil- a fresher fit out would have to considered in distant future to evolve into current up to date styling . I could see the budget priced rooms location being little isolated which I think maybe critiqued possibly by "some" as theres a small distant brisk walk to indulge in a delicous buffet breakfast which may pose as a challenge if you had hit too many icy Singha beers or sweet cocktails the night before. But personally as mentioned being tucked away in a position on Beyonds property I found it to be pure luck for myself -Bingo! it was next to the Gym (which I used daily) aswell as another "pro" viewed by us -was the slightly intimate vibe of having to passage via a path surrounded by a well manicured gardens with blooming tropical plants to access our room . Plus the added bonus of being located closer to entrance made it more convenient for daily movements. In the whole, havent had bad experience only "great experiences" as always with beyond awesome...
Read moreI will be totally honest we normally stay at 5 star hotels, this is the first 4 star hotel we have stayed at in the 6 times we have been coming to Thailand, we can really notice the difference after staying here over the last 5 out of 10 days.
I have to agree with all of Francesca’s review and previous comments regarding this hotel. It’s a nice hotel overall, however I honestly don’t find it worth the price we paid and we wouldn’t come back for a second stay.
The view from our room is beautiful, however our room is rather small and certainly showing signs of wear & tear, they are far from being spotless! There were many things in our deluxe sea view room that was not cleaned properly when we first arrived, including finding cobwebs and stains in the bathroom. The mattress is hard as nails, although they did give us a mattress topper when we requested one. The shower head was completely blocked up and just needed unblocking/cleaning, proof that there is little attention to detail and low standards when it comes to cleaning.
The internet Wifi is an absolute joke at this hotel, the downloads speeds are below 1 Mbps which is worse than ‘dial up’ internet speeds back in the early 2000’s! You can’t even stream anything without constant buffering or low quality images, making it impossible to watch anything from a Amazon Firestick on the TV or iPad! Where as the hotel or cafe next door has a minimum of 4-5 Mbps speed which is sufficient speed to stream content online!
We ordered a taxi pickup through the hotel which was quoted at 1000THB in a van which is the going rate for a van, however when we arrived there was no taxi waiting for us at the airport and we ended up getting a taxi directly from the airport which still cost 1000TBH but we ended up in a car instead of a van. In future I recommend using the Grab app and get a taxi from the airport which should only be half the price at 500TBH.
I also recommend using Grab to get around to & from the hotel, but for the pickup you should use a spot outside the hotel because some taxi drivers can’t find the entrance.
For me breakfast is really important, I was disappointed about the breakfast choice, I have never had a problem in any of the other hotels I’ve stayed at in Thailand before, but there was a lack of variety and limited choice. I was hoping that they would change the dishes each day, however pretty much identical selection the next day, we are going to walk to the hotel next door and pay to have breakfast next door from now on, as we are bored with the lack of choice & basic quality of the food here now.
On the positive it is a beautiful location and it is super quiet, we love the beach directly outside the hotel.
We usually eat lunch & have drinks at the Andalay Beach Bar & Cafe next door, the food is wonderful and there is also a beach massage next door which is really good and cheap.
Plenty of local restaurants to eat out here, we have not be disappointed by any of the local restaurants or the hotels location.
The rooms & pool could do with a bit of a revamp/deep clean, just remember you always get what...
Read moreMy review does not concern the hotel, rooms etc but my oberservations as a guest from outside. The only thing I can add from my friends from Vienna who just spent 10 days in Beyond Krabi (for the 2nd time) was, that they told me the standard in all aspects has gone down compared to last year. I personally know this hotel for more than 10 years as an outside guest. I was told the breakfast choice is much less, less fruits, less options for non Asian food lovers. The other argument was that already at 7am the beachchairs at the pool are covered with towels but people sometimes show up only after lunch. I think, that would be easy to handle from the pool staff. I know from other hotels in the world that a chair, not used for more than 45 minutes, the towel is taken away. - But now to my own experience. Yesterday was Chinese New Year and I always like to celebrate. Last year I spent that evening with my friends in Beyond and it was a really wonderful evening with a big buffet, choices of all kind of Chinese and Asian food. This year it was so poor that I was wondering if the hotel has severe financial problems. First of all there was no Chinese food. It was Thai. Only three salads as starter/appetizer: Seafood salad, Gren Papaya salad and a chicken-sausage-salad. And a choice of green leaves, tomatoes etc with dressings. - Onion soup. Thai brooth which a girl prepared. Several currys, fried rice, fried noodles. Fried fish was finished at first and not refilled. Some pork dishes, pasta gratinated, potatoes. As desert there were fruits, about 4 kind of cakes and a lady prepared banana omelette - where people queued up. Instead of at least spring rolls which is really a national Chinese dish there was fried chicken sausage!! - The open air restaurant was nicely decorated, the staff dressed in Chinese costumes. Also the hotel entrance and lobby was decorated. That brought a nice atmosphere but I think for the money spent on the outfits one could offer a better buffet which leaves a much longer impression to the guests than the decoration. - The price was 20€ which is absolutely a very reasonable price. I dont know how other guests think, but I would prefer to pay a little more and have a better choice and quality. - As my friends told me similar experience on their buffet evening during their holidays I assume that this is now the policy of the hotel management. The staff is very friendly, sometimes a bit slow but at least they try. - As far as I know Beyond belongs to Kata Group which has many (good) hotels over Thailand. I personnaly have been many years in the Kata Tani Beach Resort in Phuket. But that was before year 2000 so I dont know if it is still that excellent as it has been at that time. However, I wish Beyond to be able to survive with a good level as the location...
