If I could, I would leave a 0-star review.
In this place you'll pay tourist prices for so-so food and the poorest service you can find in Thailand. We were a party of 5 adults and one child. We requested a kids chair and a fan. It took them a while to bring the chair and the fan they never brought it even though we reminded them twice. When we arrived the table was dirty and we also had to remind them to come clean it. Thankfully they were quite prompt in coming to get our order. The dish for one of us came pretty quickly, but then they started to slow down. In the end it was only one dish missing. At this point they still hadn't brought the drinks. We had to ask about them and the servers said that "there was a line" and we should wait. A while after, more than 10 minutes, and after inquiring again they finally brought the drinks. At this point, the missing dish was still nowhere to be seen. We asked a server and she said two minutes. A while after, we asked another server and this one said that it was going to be 30 minutes. After complaining and saying that we didn't want to replace it with any other dish and that we were not interested in it anymore, the solution they found was to bring the same dish that was destined for another table. So basically, their solution was to pacify us by angering another party. Finally, one of us ordered a capuchino and we told them that we had to leave in 20 minutes because we had an appointment at the massage service the bar offers. Well, they brought the capuchino exactly at the time we had the appointment when we asked for the check. When we said we didn't want the coffee anymore they started to complain. I would understand a slow service in a packed place with few servers, but they were not short on service and there were not that many tables occupied, so lack of service was no excuse. You could also think that it was a problem of communication since they were Thai, but we were a mix of Thais and foreigners, so there was no language barrier.
The massage service was no better. They were still with other clients so we waited for 10 minutes. Then we asked about our appointment and said we should wait for 30 minutes until they were done with the clients they were with then. We were obviously not going to wait for a massage for 40 minutes after making an appointment and being able to get far cheaper and probably better ones somewhere else so we left.
If you got this far, heed my advice, look for other places to eat and/or drink. It is difficult for the quality and the service to get any worse, easy to get much better, and the business will be much closer to where you will be staying. Also, the decoration here was nothing out of the ordinary. A lot of plants, yes, but there are many plants in many other business, and much more...
Read moreWe've been fans of Andalay since it first opened, and we’ve always enjoyed its beautiful location and the entertaining fire show. However, during our recent visit, we did experience some disappointment with the early closing time and the overall feeling of being rushed.
We arrived shortly after the fire show, sat down around 7:45 pm, and placed our order—a reasonable time for dinner. As a group of six, we ordered a variety of food and drinks, and everything was served by 8:10 pm. However, only a few minutes later, at 8:13 pm, we were surprised when the cashier came to our table and asked us to pay immediately. We had requested two separate bills by family, and since the cashier was unsure if they were correct, we felt it would have been more appropriate to settle up once we had finished eating. The timing felt rushed, and it was a bit uncomfortable to be asked to stop enjoying our hot food to pay right away.
Additionally, we noticed the staff began clearing tables around us and even turned away other potential customers, which made the atmosphere feel hurried and less relaxing, especially for those of us on holiday. It would be wonderful if the restaurant could extend its closing time to accommodate diners and allow guests to enjoy their meals without feeling pressured to leave.
We have had wonderful experiences in the past and hope the management might consider adjusting this aspect of the dining experience. A more relaxed approach would definitely make us eager to return, and we believe others would...
