Our stay was in the mid of Coronacrisis and the hotel is trying to get back in business. So my view is an honest feed back, knowing that it is not so easy right now....
Staff was extremely friendly and helpful, especially with the 'corona paperwork'. (It was not their fault that it took time to clear)
We joined the 'Thai government discount program' and that helps hotels: we pay 60% and the government Pais 40%. Clever plan! And.... the hotel gave us an upgrade also. Normal roomprices were also reduced, so even without that plan it is relatively cheap!
Staff: During our stay staff asked a few times if everything was ok, if we would like more food, if we need something else. They try to took care, that feels good.
Clean: The room was very clean, the swimming pool (1.40 m deep everywhere) was clean and quit big. At breakfast they provide gloves for picking your items. This is a SHA+ hotel.
In the room was water, instant coffee, some ground coffee, tea. There are also umbrellas (we needed thoseš§ļø) and bathrobes (we used for funš) TV has mostly Thai channels, but do you need TV? We not. WiFi was ok. A huge shower with hot/cold water. Hot water takes time to reach the room.
There is a small garden that looks nice, still -during covid crisis- well maintained. We could use the garden footpath as a shortcut to the beach and restaurants. Just a few minutes.
Breakfast: Breakfast was ok. As there were only Thai people they had Thai buffet, but they immediately came to tell me that they will make breakfast for me. I think that those small things makes that you feel they care about you, very service minded. Very relaxing area with soft playing music.
Clean: 5 Value: 5 Staff: 5 Tips: make fresh coffee during breakfast. put toaster on counter to make...

I was originally coming with a friend, so I had booked a room with two separate twin beds. Then she couldn't come so I emailed that it was just going to be me. Shortly after, I met another friend that could come in her place, so I emailed again, about a week before checking in, that I will have a friend coming again with a reply back "Thank you for your email. We have already noted for the room with two separate beds. We look forward to welcoming you to stay with us. Should you need any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards, TheerapongĀ M. Reservation Department"
Well, when I arrived, my room wasn't ready for the check in time. Instead, I waited in the lobby another 40 minutes past check in time. Then my friend came after me from Phuket, and the same front desk lady that had me wait wanted her to pay extra for my second bed even though I already pre-paid for the room with two beds, and it's just a different friend is all. It took several attempts going back and forth with her. Then I remembered I had this email. The front desk lady took a picture of my email with her phone and was mad that I had any proof. She called someone (spoke in Thai) and then all was okay. But even if I didn't have the email, I still prepaid for a room with two twin beds, so why would you charge more at check in? Pic 1 of 2 twin beds.
Then on a different night, the entire hotel had no water as well. Pic 2 is the water before it ran out completely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreStayed at La Playa for a week in April for our honeymoon. Arrived early evening and received a very warm welcome. Our room was on the 4th floor with a fantastic pool and sea view. Room was comfortable and clean with massive bed. Had the amenities we needed, but was a little dated and in need of some TLC. Balcony was spacious enough for us. Ate in the hotel 1st night and had a tasty Thai meal. Also had a free meal included in our honeymoon package. Both times we were the only people eating in, but the food was very tasty and generous. Breakfast was a generous and varied buffet and mix of Thai and western food with lots of fresh fruit. All the staff we met were very friendly, helpful and professional. Sak in the bar/restaurant was great for a chat. Willing to spend time for a chat. We used the spa twice and thoroughly enjoyed our Thai massages. Nanny made sure we were well-looked after. Happy hour cocktails round the large pool were a treat. Won on the tours desk was very helpful and we think we got some great deals on excursions. Maria and Ann particularly on reception helped with little queries. We loved the green efforts the hotel is making and that there was water in our rooms, but also a machine we could freely use all the time in reception to fill our bottles. We liked that La Playa is set back from the main strip, but very easy to get to bars, restaurants, the beaches to 'left' (good for longtail boats) and 'right' - we preferred Hat Noppharat side as it was quieter. Also close enough to night markets. We'd happily return to Ao Nang Beach and...
