The beach is very dirty, full of plastic left behind. On top of that, the smell is at times very disturbing. You'll notice while walking on the beach that sewage canals empty directly on to the beach/sea. Sadly some of the monkeys grab this plastic and take it with them. Ao Nang beach is also the main point of departure of most of the boats headed to other islands, so the noise is quite loud (unfortunately it also brings some guilt and self-awareness as to how tourism is ruining this place and at the amount of smog the constant traffic of boats is causing).

Read moreAo Nang Beach is truly a gem! The beach itself is beautiful, with soft golden sands and crystal-clear waters. It’s the perfect spot to relax and unwind, offering stunning views of the surrounding limestone cliffs. The atmosphere is vibrant yet peaceful, making it ideal for both leisurely beach days and exciting evening activities.
One of the highlights of my visit was the incredible fire shows that take place in the evening. The performances were absolutely mesmerizing, with skilled fire dancers lighting up the night sky in an energetic and captivating display. It’s an experience you can’t miss, full of energy and excitement that perfectly complements the laid-back vibe of Ao Nang.
Whether you're looking to enjoy a day at the beach or want to be wowed by incredible fire performances, Ao Nang Beach delivers on both fronts. Highly recommend this spot for anyone...
Read moreIt's close to loads of restaurants and bars and gives you that proper holiday vibe. Everyone is friendly, from the cleaners in the hotels to the barmen and women, to the locals etc. You can also jump on a long boat and visit other beaches along the coast, which is fun and cheap at 100 baht each way.
I would recommend Ao Nang. Simply because the tourist infrastructure is better and it's much easier and cheaper to get to places like Railay Beach by boat or public transport.
Beautiful blue water, white sand and quite neighbourhood makes it perfect beach gateway. Morning aerobic activities and evening music and fire shows are added delight. A variety of eateries and souvenir shops alongside. Must bargain and it’s up by 2-3 times. Compare whether you buy items or take tour packages. The behaviour of the shopkeepers was not much...
