Our stay in the 2 bedroom apartment with my spouse, 2 young children and my elderly parents was incredibly comfortable!||Apartment was HUGE, new, fully equipped, comfortable and clean (except for an incident where we found a live cockroach under my pillow which really freaked us out..). ||We arrived around 2.30pm but the apartment was not ready, so the kids went to the kids club and parents went for vegetable carving session. Thanks for the warm welcome Milana!||Kids club is a bit small hence gets crowded very easily, but they make up for it by having the most AMAZING staff who are so passionate in playing with the children! (Thank you Pia, Fern, Pam and Popcorn, you made the kids so comfortable and cared for ❤️). Our kids attended several sessions everyday for 4 days and were so happy, constantly asking to go to the kids club.||Love how they had so many activities that we couldn’t finish going for them all (while squeezing in naps, lazy moments in the apartment and multiple trips to 7/11 which was just about 3mins walk away from our room). Also by Pia and gang ❤️ honestly, much of the hospitality was felt by them!||Pool was a heated salt-water pool so no lip-turning-blue incidents or chlorine irritation for our young kiddos for soaking in the pool longer than they should.||Clean beach was a buggy away, though we had to wait for a while to be picked up from the beach back to the hotel after using the free phone at the beach.||Hotel staff Vanessa and Fairy were incredibly patient and helpful in helping me look for alternative restaurants to order in for comfortable dinner from when Kin Dee wasn’t available for delivery. Thanks so much lovely ladies ❤️ They helped us order for takeaway twice from a nearby restaurant called JJ’s Bar (about 5 mins walk) to have a comfortable dinner in our apartment especially with the really warm weather. Ordered local Thai food and they were delicious - tomyum, green curry, fried pork with garlic, omelette, vegetables, you name it! Also cost us about 1000-1300THB for a meal for a family of 6.||Food wise, not that many options to eat out but we did have Singh’s Seafood, Basil Kitchen (recommend the pad thai) and The Coffee Club (recommend the crispy pork with egg and rice), but again, recommending JJ’s Bar for local Thai food which was cheap and yummy.||We purposefully opted in for the timeshare presentation as we were genuinely interested, and surprisingly, it wasn’t pushy at all. We had Dan Sciascia speak to us, and we actually had a pleasant time learning and trying to understand if the MVC was suitable for us right now. Daniel and CK were also very pleasant and did not pressure us into anything we didn’t want. So please request for Dan if you would like an honest, knowledgeable and pleasant person to speak to you on the timeshare :)||Overall rating: 4.8/5 (would’ve been 5 if it wasn’t for the cockroach under my pillow. That being said, I would’ve rated 1/5 for ANY encounters with cockroaches in my bed, but all the positives just raised the rating!)||Would we come back? Well, kids are asking us when we’d be coming back, and we would choose this Marriott Mai Khao again for the service, room and facilities. We hope to meet the same staff who have made our stay so...
Read moreI am writing this review to express my disappointment and dissatisfaction during my stay at Marriot’s Mai Khao Beach Phuket. When I first entered to check in, I was greeted with the front desk staff named Ms. Joy. Things were fine at the start until we were told that we couldn’t be checked in. We were told we couldn’t check in as the room could only accommodate 6 guests but we had 7. At the earlier stage, we didn’t communicate well with the marketing person Ms. Tang. I requested her to add on extra bed in my room and she replied me “yes”. So I expected everything go well and the room can cater for my family. We didn’t know that even we pay extra we also can’t stay for a group of 7 with the extra bed. Joy then seemed like she was being a bit bias and wanted to create more issues. We then asked if we could just get the room first so my parents who were nearly 80 could rest first as it was a long journey to get here. They continuously rejected us and told us we can’t check in with 7 guests. She then asked us to book another room and I asked her what was the room rate. I was told to look it up myself online on the Agoda app. I was at the hotel reception and asked for the room rate but was told to look it up myself. For convenience sake, I told her my brother would just be staying at a hotel nearby. She asked me to point out which one specifically, asked for the hotel name, asked for the room number and told us she wanted to inform the other hotel to make it convenient for us. Why does it matter to her where my brother stay or who will be staying in the hotel. As I was already agitated, I told her to just check me in so I can rest and arrange a stay for my brother as well. She pointed to a sign next to her and told me the earliest check in time was 4pm. At the beginning, she didn’t even inform us the check in time was 4pm. This meant she never intended to check us in at the first place. As we have already wasted almost 2.5 hours there, and then I asked for the manager to meet us immediately. Room division manager, Aya Hosokawa then came out and dealt with the situation. I want to compliments Ms Aya who presented the hotel front desk in a very good manner and showed her sincerity to solve my problem. However, the front desk staff, Ms. Joy really made us very dissatisfied and disappointed with her...
Read moreStay Away from Marriott Vacation Club||I have reserved my stay for 2 Dec via marriott vacation club package. I am yet to stay at the property so cant share my stay experience but wanted to share my booking experience with them. Booking experience has been quite a nightmare. ||I booked the $199 package for 3 nights including breakfast on Oct 14 and shared my reservation dates for 30Nov-2Dec with the India marketing team - Debojyoti, tanmay and riddhima. These dates were available at the time of booking as shared by the India marketing team but the APAC reservation team(Karr) took 3 days to process my request only to realise that above dates were sold out. I had already booked my flight tickets based on the earlier confirmation on Oct 14. I took 2 Dec-5 Dec as the new dates with no further flexibility to move my dates around as I had a return flight to India on 5th. Upon doing the reservation I am informed that complimentory breakfast is only available for November and for 2 Dec -5 Dec dates we will not get breakfast. Upon escalations, they started suggesting me restaurents nearby where I can have breakfast. I asked them for cancellation, to which I get a response that these bookings are non refundable and I can cancel for no refund. In total have already spent 10-15 hours on emails, calls etc to make these bookings. ||I would like to suggest to skip marriott vacation club packages as there can be a lot of surprises. I am not even sure how many more surprises are awaiting us before I complete my stay. This resort is on the outskirts of Phuket 1.5 hrs away from major attractions and in such an area you can get a high end resort for 3 nights with breakfast for less than $199 without any surprises. Stay...
