Phuket was the last stop of four during our 2 week stay in Thailand and unfortunately the worst. This hotel is no where near a 4 star hotel - 3 at the very best.
Room - The rooms are MUCH smaller than they appear online. We booked a One-Bedroom Coral Lounge Ocean View Suite. We planned to spend our days at the beach or doing excursions and were excited to relax here in the evenings. First, it is hardly an ocean view, more like a view of the bright lights of the entry way of the hotel and lights from the very busy Patong Beach. The "suite" is very very small and the furniture in the living area is very cheap patio furniture that should be on a balcony. The rooms are stacked on top of each other and we were on the lowest level of the four floors. Our room was right over the entrance of the hotel so all night we heard motercycles, Tuk Tuks, cars, and fireworks. The fireworks went off all night, every night. Sometimes 3-4 times in an hour which made sleeping, even with earplugs, extremely difficult. With the blinds closed the room was still very bright. I understand the hotel cannot control the fireworks as they are coming from the beach, but it did hugely impact our stay. We asked to change rooms due to the noise and the hotel did show us another room which was exactly the same as we had but on the middle floor and even further away from the lobby. The buggy service is nearly impossible and we were already just walking to/from our room. We decided to stay where we were as we didn't want an even further walk up more stairs and hills.
Property - If you are not comfortable with stairs, or not physically able to walk up and down numerous flights of stairs this is not the hotel for you. Just to enter/exit the room was 4 flights of stairs. Another two staircases down to the lobby from our room which had about 30 stairs each. Then another very long staircase down to the pool and to the restaurants. The hotel does offer golf cart/buggy services but you have to wait a minimum of 30 minutes to get one. It was much faster for us to just walk to our room which is what we did. At 90 F(32 C) you will nearly get in a full workout just getting around the property or plan an additional half hour waiting for a buggy.
Food - the food was very average. The steaks at the Italian restaurant were good and we liked the pasta. It wasn't bad, but certainly not fine dining. The food at Rim Talay was also just okay. The margaritas tasted like store bought margarita mix. We ordered a margherita and a pepperoni pizza from room service our last night and both were a 2/10 for ~$50. If we hadn't been exhausted we would've left the hotel for dinner. Tons of better, cheaper options within walking distance. The breakfast in the coral lounge was pretty bad. Not a great selection overall. The fruits were sour and had bugs landing/flying all around. I ordered the avocado toast from the a la carte menu. The cheese on top looked and tasted like tofu and the avocado was not fresh.
Location - The hotel is not on a beach as it appears - It is right next to Patong beach. The hotel has a "private" beach but there is no sand, just rocks. You can access the ocean down a staircase down from the pool straight into the water and you can only swim in the ocean here during high tide. There is no beach chairs, etc. Not much to do at the hotel, no paddleboards, kayaks, etc offered and the pool was overcrowded and just okay. If you want to go to the beach it's 200 baht tuk tuk each way or a 10 min walk - we walked.
If you are here to party and want to be close to bars, restaurants and crowds, this is a great spot. If you are looking for a resort, place to relax or expecting a true suite - stay elsewhere. We would've moved hotels but paid around $1500 and could not get a refund. We instead ended our trip early and changed our flight home to the US. Really unfortunate that we ended our trip here as we wanted to relax and enjoy our last few days in Thailand.
EDIT: I would like to say that the staff is very nice. We had a really pleasant experience...
Read moreI stayed at Amari Phuket with my family (6 members) on October 14th to 15th (Booking ID: 1395486581). Our stay was deeply disappointing and left us feeling unsafe and disrespected. We don't feel comfortable returning or recommending this hotel to others.
What happened:
Issue: On the night of October 14th, after a long day out, four members of my family returned to the hotel after 2 AM. We approached the front desk to request key cards for our three rooms, as the keys were with other 2 family members who had already slept in the room for the night.
The sole receptionist on duty, wearing the name tag "Golf," responded to our request rudely and condescendingly. He demanded to know where my key card was, despite our explanation that it was in the room with a sleeping family member. His tone escalated, and his frustration and refusal became alarming when we asked for the other two room keys. He shook with anger, raising his voice, rolling his eyes, and refusing to provide the keys, stating he needed to see the other guests. I asked the family members to approach the desk since he requested who was resting after the long walk back to the resort at 2 am.
I told him that he was being rude, to which he responded - No, No! I don't think so! with a smirk and pity face. This was a good opportunity for him to reconsider the way of communication or find us someone else to help. Instead he kept repeating the same "I don't think so!" few more times. We felt helpless since there was no one else who could help us.
We understand the need for security, but his questioning manner was extremely hostile, rude and disrespectful. At no point did he ask for any verification, such as IDs or booking information, which would have been appropriate. Instead, he raised his voice further, creating a scene and causing us to feel unsafe and disrespected.
When I requested to speak to the manager, Golf falsely claimed there was no one else available and that he was the manager. Then he started making remarks in a rude way that if I lost my card I will have to pay huge amount and get ready to pay when we checkout. The choice of words and the tone were very rude. I literally had to tell him to stop worrying about all that and get us the room key. At this point he got more ego hurt that I asked him to focus on issuing the key card.
Concerns:
Rudeness and unprofessional behavior: Golf’s attitude was hostile, disrespectful, and unacceptable for any hospitality setting. Failure to follow security protocols: Instead of standard verifications, he escalated the situation unnecessarily. Safety concerns: His aggressive demeanor made us feel both physically and mentally unsafe. False information: Golf falsely claimed he was the manager and that no further assistance was available. Follow-up:
I have attempted to contact the Assistant Night Manager, Sarayuth Mardlai, via email regarding this incident, but I never heard back.
I’m sharing this review to inform others of the issues we faced. I hope management takes the necessary steps to address this situation so future guests do not have to experience the same. This kind of treatment is simply...
Read moreThe wonderful Amari is located in Phuket's Pa Tong area and it’s committed to providing a peaceful stay for its visitors! This beachfront hilltop resort offers a variety of facilities, eating options, and activities to make sure that everyone is satisfied and I will definitely be going back since I enjoyed this property thoroughly!
The entire space is exquisitely set up, and the lobby's roomy, lovely, and straightforward architecture exudes a sense of a peaceful sanctuary. The construction of their rooms exudes sophistication and a modern look. Not only did their rooms have beautiful exteriors, but they also had beautiful interiors. In addition to a range of fruits and snacks and a complementary minibar that included juices, sodas, and coconut water, they were spacious and furnished with everything I needed. From my lodging, I could also enjoy a stunning view of the Pa Tong coastline and the surrounding greenery. Walking about the area gave me the tranquil impression of being in a forest, and I was constantly greeted by breathtaking sights.
All hotel visitors can take advantage of the many amenities that Amari provides. Among these facilities are their Idea Room, the Coral Room, the Fit Center, several swimming pools, a spa, and three dining options. I got the chance to see three pools: one near the Rim Talay restaurant, one at Club Pakarang, their clubhouse, and one just next to La Gritta restaurant. It was a very calming experience because each pool was immaculate and well-kept. Their breakfast buffet had a view of the coastline and was served in the Coral Room, which is just next to the Idea Room, which can be used for meetings. Even while on vacation, you can stay in shape thanks to their Fit Center, which is near the La Gritta restaurant.
I started by going to Rim Talay for the breakfast buffet. The wide range of delicious meal alternatives was quite alluring, and the food was fresh, which improved its flavor—something that is surprisingly hard to get at most hotels. They also provide a large selection of international dishes for lunch and dinner. My next stop was La Gritta, an Italian restaurant. Well-prepared dishes and polite service were features of this fine dining experience. I suggest getting the Lasagna, which had the perfect ratio of pasta to meat, and the Di Mare pizza, which is a pizza with mixed seafood. The warm, fresh dough added a delightful crunch to the pizza sauce, which was not overly sweet and complemented the shrimp. As expected, the breathtaking view is provided by Amaris Club Pakarang's hilltop location. Aside from a wide range of delicious bite-sized appetizers, they also serve some delicious traditional Thai food alongside western options. Because it has a pool and outside seating, the clubhouse is a terrific spot to relax.
Unquestionably one of Phuket's top attractions, Amari provides every tourist with an unforgettable experience with its excellent service, friendly staff, cozy accommodations, delectable food, and stunning views. If you are considering a trip to Phuket and want to have a genuine vacation, I would highly recommend...
