Asian Hotel 9 hole Par 3
Yesterday was one of my worst days since I have been living here in Thailand playing at the Par 3, nine holes Asia Hotel Golf Course and I want every reader to know what to expect if they decide to play at this course.
(1) They do not have a marshal. They have a young girl that is a housekeeper doing the duties of a Marchal, which she does not even know anything about golf.
(2) She does not know to tell the customer to start on hole #1 or give them a scorecard, so they know what the course layout is.
(3) She did not know there a sign with the course rules and golf etiquette. How can you place a young lady on a golf course
(4) Management does not know what golf etiquette is. That is why they placed a young housekeeper at the course.
It all about your money! It's foreigner against foreigner! That's their attitude when it comes to this course.
The most significant problems at this course:
(1) Europeans (2) Europeans do not know golf etiquette. (3) Europeans do not know there a sign with the course rules and about golf etiquette. (4) They have no respect for the course, and when it reported, management does not care or come out to have those Europeans removed from the course. (5) Then they want to bring out their Thai girlfriend and train them while others are trying to enjoy playing.
So what is golf etiquette?
In short, it's about “respect”: Respect for the course – leave the course as you would like to find it by repairing pitch-marks, replacing divots and raking bunkers. Respect for your fellow players – be sportsmanlike and polite, stay by the green to watch them hole out, and avoid distracting them.
So why even consider golf etiquette at this course when management does not enforce it and the European don't give a damn? So if you get in a pissing contest, you know what to expect at this course.
I wrote in my previous review improve suggestions what management should focus on for the upkeep of the course.
Previous suggestions: (1) The tee boxes are in bad shape. They needed to be closed off and built back up. This is because the course receives a lot of non-golfers. (2) Build a box with a hitting mat at each tee box. This will allow the maintenance crew to close off the tee boxes and the grass can grow on the tee box.
Today suggestions, I have included photos. Due to the fact this is low season, this is the time to fix these things. Maybe they will help management see and understand that since they do not play golf, there are golfers that do play and is happy to provide feedback on the course.
(1) The tee boxes are in terrible shape. They needed to be closed off and built back up. (2) How hard is it to build a box with a hitting mat at each tee box. I include a slide.
Overall the course is beautiful and in great shape except for...
Read moreThe Asia Pattaya Hotel is well-staffed, there's always people on hand to assist or answer questions from check-in onwards in a courteous manner. The building's interior has a charming air of slightly dated extravagance, decked up for the holiday season. The exterior, including pool and rec area were neat and organized. The room had ample space and the bathroom were in Western style (bath/shower and sink each with hot and cold water taps and a shower curtain) rather than Thai. Soft pillows, good linen, and powerful air conditioning made for good sleeps; the gentle sound of pigeons cooing outside the window was a pleasant wake up call. The view from the seaside rooms was worth the small added cost. Complementary water, instant coffee, and tea were provided, along with the necessary electric kettle. While there are some in-room treats available for purchase (including drinks in the refrigerator), it's convenient to cross the road to the adjacent Family Mart (or the half dozen 7-elevens down the road) for snacks and extra supplies. The TV had numerous channels available, including BBC, Syfy, CNN, a couple movie channels, and several others in English, plus many in Thai. The TVs are new enough to have HDMI inputs. Rooms also have a safe available at no extra cost. The biggest shortcoming of the room was that there was only one available electric wall outlet available for charging. Location is right off the beach and a 20 minute walk from Thappraya Rd, where one can catch a "Baht Bus" (the modified pickup trucks that run along the beachfront route; fare is typically 10 THB / person), however there are several taxis waiting directly outside the hotel gate. The hotel also offers a shuttle service 2x daily (11:00 & 15:00) for 50 THB / person to one of the malls on the north side. The nearby Condoms and Cabbages restaurant is also worth...
Read moreI can say that it is the most decent hotel in Pattaya. I think I stayed 6 nights and everything went well. The employees are friendly and polite. I chose the sea view room and the view is amazing. No laundry problems. There are 3 washing machines on the 2nd floor. You enter the reception to buy coins and they give you coins and laundry detergent. Air conditioning systems are fine. A professional air conditioning system has been built. I went to the reception to ask something, and they told me that the air conditioner was faulty. I insisted that the air conditioner was working, but it turned out that it was not cooling. Thanks to the remote electronic system, they know in which room the air conditioner is not cooling. Congratulations. They said we have prepared a new room for you, please change your room and gave us a room with the same view. If God allows, I want to stay in the same hotel again next year. I offer my respects to everyone...
