As an IHG member and having stayed at this property more than 50 times, I always expect to be welcomed by friendly and smiling faces. However, this time, my expectations were not met.
I will list out below some of the issues that I had.
Check-In - The waiting time for check-in was more than 10 minutes, despite the presence of a dedicated check-in counter for IHG members. I was disappointed to see that nobody seemed to care about this, and even some of the new staff members were not aware of what IHG membership entails. If the dedicated counter is not going to be used during busy times, then what is the point of being an IHG member?
Laundry – I requested dry cleaning service by delivering my clothes in a laundry bag to the reception desk. However, the response I received was that this property is self-service and if I need to clean my clothes, I should use the laundry machine. Even though I explained it three times, I guess I couldn't express myself very clearly. I showed them the laundry request list that was in my room, which explains the fee for laundry and dry cleaning. I'm confused as to why they keep the list in the room with a laundry bag if this property is now self-service for laundry.
Room – The room that I have booked was for 2 people so I should have enough pillows and towels. I had only 1 big and 1 small towel and only 2 pillows which were not even clean. I have requested a pillow, but the answer they are out of pillows. I really don’t know what to say. The next day I asked can I please have 2 more pillows; the response was the same. 3rd day, I had to request again, this time the way that they looked at me was a bit strange. Finally, with all the difficulties I got my pillow, I was happy, but the pillows were taken from another room. I had asked them to change the cover, but the response was negative. They have only changed few rooms, especially the rooms which should be ready for newcomers. I have taken photos of those pillows, but I am too shy to share them with you. 4 pillows, each of them has 4 different stages of the white colors. At the end of my stay, all those pillows become yellow. Every 3 days I left the card on my bed, and I requested the linens to be changed, the bad cover, and the blanket cover. They only change the bed cover. I know, cause every day when the housekeeping team arrived, I was in the room doing my daily business work online.
Every time I turn on the TV in my hotel room, I am greeted with the message “Welcome Mr. Wxxx, Dxxxx”. Although I understand that Mr. Wxxx has stayed in this room before, I am concerned that someone else may have seen my name as well. I believe that under the Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in Thailand, similar to the EU’s General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR), it is the responsibility of the hotel to protect my personal data and not share it with anyone without my consent. What is the difference, if someone approach the front desk and ask if I am staying at this hotel or not. I have attached a screenshot that clearly shows that Mr. Wxxx’s stay at Holiday Inn Express Pattaya. This is a serious breach of the personal data, and I really wonder what actions will be taken in order to prevent this happening again.
Restaurant (breakfast) – Young ladies dressed in black caught my attention during my stay at the hotel. Although I regret not asking for their names, I would like to express my gratitude for their warm greetings and constant smiles toward hotel guests. As a guest, we expect to receive such hospitality, which is why Thailand is known "The Land of Smiles". I would like to extend my special thanks to these young ladies. I appreciate their hard work.
During the first few days of my stay, it was quite challenging to locate the staff at the egg station. I always had to ask and wait for a while. However, over the next few days, the staff started to pre-cook sunny-side-up and omelets, leaving them on the table for guests to take. While I understand that this was a good way to speed up the process and prevent guests from waiting, but if an omelet is not requested, it remains on the table and gets cold. The eggs, whether sunny-side-up, omelet, or scrambled, cannot be reheated as it causes the color to change to green and become poisonous. No one is going to die, but this is an issue that needs to be addressed.
Invoice/Folio – I requested all invoices for my past three accommodations to be sent to my email address, but I haven't received them yet. So, I send another email to request for it. It should not be that much difficult. I have received on my last request, finally.
Although I have more information to share, but I also I understand that it won't change what happened. Hotel management do not care about it at all.
I have cancelled my up-coming bookings at your property. The decision to cancel the bookings was based on several factors. Especially, I was quite disappointed with the cleanliness of the property. As a result, I have decided to move my bookings to another IHG hotel that better meets my needs and...

My recent stay at Holiday Inn Express Pattaya Central left me with mixed feelings. While the hotel has some positive attributes like its central location and modern design, several issues detracted from the overall experience. This relatively new property promises a convenient base for exploring Pattaya but fails to deliver consistently across all aspects. The combination of underwhelming amenities, space constraints, and service inconsistencies made this stay less satisfactory than expected. If you're looking for a budget-friendly option and don't mind some compromises, this hotel might work, but be prepared for several disappointments along the way.
LOCATION: The location is one of the hotel's few strengths, situated in central Pattaya about a 10-minute walk from the beach. However, the immediate surroundings can be quite noisy, especially in the evenings, with loud bars and traffic noise often penetrating the rooms facing the street. But we warned that you would be in the heart of Seedy bars and shady massage parlors that attract equally dubious crowds and perennially intoxicated revelers!
DINE + DRINK: The free breakfast was disappointing considering the Holiday Inn Express brand standards. The selection was limited and repetitive, with items often running out during busy periods and slow replenishment. The breakfast area frequently became overcrowded, resulting in long waits for tables during peak hours. The lack of a proper restaurant in the hotel is a significant drawback, forcing guests to venture out for all other meals.
ROOM: We stayed in Room 509, so this review is based on that; SIZE: Barely enough space for 2 adults and simple baggage; VIEW: Random view of the boisterous street and seedy bars below; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting us to sleep; BATHROOM : Super Compact bathroom with a Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: decent quality Toiletries
FACILITIES: Compact Gym with a basic range of weights and Cardio machines. They also have a rooftop outdoor swimming pool
SERVICE: Friendly staff that cared for all my needs with a smile and feel well taken care of.
HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free Wi-Fi that works well all over the property, and the speed is good! Medium-sized Smart TV dishing out a wide variety of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies, and entertainment in...
