We stayed at the Royal Wing for 2 nights in April 2019. We had taken family on a 2 night Pattaya break and our choice was 2 x Studio king rooms without breakfast. This hotel was not my first choice but all of my shortlist hotels were fully booked!||||The LK RW is situated down a quiet side street off the bustling Soi Buakaw near the junction with Central Pattaya rd and a 5 minute walk to the sea front. I would describe the location as excellent for what we wanted.||||First impressions on arrival were not good. There was no concierge to be found at the front so we drove to the basement parking. It was a dump down there with old stuff piled high. The concierge then found us, tunic open to the waist and clearly just woke up but a pleasant and helpful guy.||||He took us and our bags to reception, avoiding some sort of gutter or pipe leak that meant water was cascading down over the main entrance. The foyer is not air conditioned but a small check in room was. ||||We were then taken to our upper floor rooms (having paid a large and unexpected deposit!) which were next door to each other. We opened up for our family to be instantly hit by an overpowering stench of stale tobacco. It was like someone had been chain smoking in there for a year with all of the doors and windows closed! Staff later tried a heavy dose of air freshener but the sickly smell was not going away that easily (looking back now we should have insisted on a room change). Our room didn't have the stink but I did notice a general worn look to the place. The pictures online make it look quite grand with it's ornate gilded furniture. I was expection a good 4* similar to a Dusit hotel but it was far from it. Everything just looked tired and past its best. The highlight of this (in both rooms!) was the chaise longue at the foot of the bed. So worn, torn and stained and beyond cleaning. Why keep it in the room? Another issue we had was our toilet 'backing up' but in fairness this is not uncommon in Thailand! Positives for the room were that they were large and the bed and shower were ok.||||There is no gym at this hotel (I believe the sister hotel has one) but there is a roof top pool which was one of the reasons I booked this place. The pool itself is of a good size and I managed to do my lengths but the poolside, very much like the rest of the hotel was tatty and unloved. In fact it became apparent that the roof pool area was mainly just used as a smoking area by the residents. There is no food available at this hotel but again, this is available at the nearby sister hotel which provides a buffet breakfast for 500 BHT.||||I would summarise in saying that this hotel is in a great location but is in desperate need of renovation. The LK group has dozens of hotels around Pattaya and this one would not make me rush to try another. Our rooms worked out at £40.50 per night which isn't even particularly cheap. I would suggest that this place is more suited to male customers and not family groups. There are some positives but unless you get a seriously good price I would definitely be...
Read moreUnsafe, Unhealthy, and Poorly Managed – Avoid This Hotel My stay at LK Royal Suite was an absolute disaster, and I strongly urge others to avoid this hotel. From start to finish, the experience was marred by poor conditions and appalling management.
The first room I was given was filthy, prompting me to complain and request a full refund for the 5 nights I had booked. Instead of addressing the issue professionally, the manager informed me that the owner would not be happy to provide a full refund. They only offered a partial refund for 4 nights or an upgrade to a suite. Hoping for an improvement, I reluctantly accepted the upgrade, but the situation only worsened.
The suite had a broken air conditioner, which they repaired, but the room had a strong smell of damp. A few hours later, my daughter developed a rash, and we began feeling unwell. After consulting a local pharmacy, we were advised to leave immediately due to severe dampness in the room, which posed a serious health risk. We even had to purchase medication to address the symptoms caused by the room's hazardous conditions.
When I complained about the second room and requested a full refund, the management remained dismissive. It was only after I showed them the medication and explained the pharmacy’s advice that they reluctantly agreed to provide a full refund.
This experience was unacceptable on every level. The management’s unwillingness to take responsibility for the dangerous conditions, coupled with their reluctance to issue a full refund despite the clear health hazards, shows a complete disregard for guest safety and well-being.
Do not stay here. This hotel is unsafe, poorly managed, and not...
