HOMA markets itself as a sustainable, community-driven co-living space, but in practice, it’s a microcosm of everything wrong with today’s Phuket: overrun facilities, absent enforcement, and a management team that sees long-term residents as a nuisance rather than an asset.

Overcrowding Without Infrastructure

No parking—not even for scooters. If you're a long-term resident, you’ll compete with tourists who treat HOMA as a short-term stay.

The pool is a free-for-all. Non-residents walk in off the street, order food, and take over the entire area, leaving paying guests without space.

The co-working space is unusable. Overcrowded, poorly ventilated pods, and, most notably, filled with a chemical odor that makes working in the space unbearable. I moved here specifically for the workspace but had to work from my room instead.

🛑 No Enforcement, No Accountability

A drone nearly hit me in the head while a HOMA contractor was flying it three feet above the pool. No action was taken. This should have been reported to authorities—but instead, it was met with a courteous but empty "sorry" and no follow-up. They refused to file a police report.

Security is nonexistent. Non-residents walk in freely, use the facilities, and contribute to overcrowding.

Maintenance requests are ignored. Leaking AC units destroy anything placed beneath them, but getting repairs means enduring the same scripted apologies with no actual resolution.

“Greenwashing” Instead of Sustainability

Advertises as LEED-certified but cuts corners. The co-working pods lack ventilation, making them unbearably hot.

The pool is marketed as saltwater but is frequently filled with chlorine.

Sliding glass doors aren’t LEED spec, leading to frequent malfunctions—and surprise fees for guests accused of "damaging" them.

Overworked Staff & The Reality of Overtourism Staff are exhausted, underpaid (as little as $300/month), and dealing with abusive tourists. Phuket’s overtourism has created a burnt-out, disengaged service industry.

HOMA’s “customer service” is performative. Problems don’t get solved—they get apologized for, repeatedly, without action.

🛑 HOMA is a Case Study in Phuket’s Overcrowding Problem

The Los Angeles Times recently labeled Phuket "Little Moscow", and it’s hard to argue. The island is now defined by overcrowding, unchecked tourism, and a breakdown of basic infrastructure—and nowhere is this more obvious than at HOMA Phuket Town.

Phuket is no longer the island it once was—and HOMA is proof of what happens when overdevelopment collides with...

We initially dipped our toes into Homa's waters with a short-term stay, and it quickly became a home away from home. Here's what we've experienced:

First and foremost, a vital suggestion for improvement would be to enhance the package delivery system. We've encountered a couple of instances where packages went missing, taking a lot of time away from the Homa staff to locate packages. My earnest advice would be to implement a system where tenants are required to sign for their packages upon arrival, rather than relying on an open-access approach, which can lead to waste of unnecessary time for everyone.

Furthermore, it would greatly benefit the community if security conducted nightly walkthroughs in the co-working space to ensure all belongings are cleared, as some residents have a tendency to leave their chairs and monitors unattended for days.

Now, let's delve into the positive aspects:

Location: Homa is ideally nestled, only a 10-15 minute ride to the mall and Phuket town, with the beaches just a breezy 20-30 minutes away.

Co-working: The co-working facilities are a dream come true. Booking meeting rooms and phone booths through their user-friendly app is seamless. However, it good to note that both phone booths and meeting rooms can occasionally become uncomfortably warm as there are no air vents or temperature controls in these rooms.

Gym: While the gym is good and sufficient, if needing a more intense workout, Alpha Health Club is only a 6 minute drive. My only wish would be a shift in the gym's opening hours to 6 am instead of 7 am.

Pool: The pool is absolutely stunning, offering the unique experience of swimming while basking in Phuket's mesmerizing sunset glow. The only recommendation would be if Homa enforced swim attire policy to everyone, including babies; as entering the pool naked and without proper swimming attire to maintain hygiene standards would be greatly appreciated.

Dining: Dining options could use some enhancement, especially for vegans and vegetarians who have limited choices. However, meat lovers will find themselves spoiled with the daily specials.

Our Abode: Our duplex is nothing short of a vision, featuring high ceilings and sunsets that feel like pure poetry. The pool overhead serenades us with a gentle hum, which has become a cherished part of our experience.

Homa's innovative approach to accommodations in Thailand is commendable. It comes highly recommended for anyone seeking an extended work-vacation. Kudos to Homa for creating such...

We lived in Homa for a year and three months. There are both advantages and objective disadvantages.

Pros: Rooftop with swimming pool, restaurant and bar! And a super view, the best sunsets! Super staff, the girls at the reception are extremely friendly, they will always help and advise, they will quickly solve any problem Always help with letters and parcels I especially want to mention Orn, Fern and Air, you are the best) Large parking lot for cars and bikes, throughout the entire time there was not a single problem parking a bike Nice area with a cool garden (although not very big) Possibility to live with an animal (albeit for a fee) Homa constantly takes care of the guests and organizes various cute events on holidays Co-working Book-crossing Movies and sports broadcasts on the big screen on the roof Interest clubs with board games

Minuses: Refrigerators in small rooms, they are, after all, hotel ones and are not intended for long-term stays Smoking room between buildings A and B, noise and cigarette smoke (it seems more logical to make it where the parking lot is) Children are screaming near the pool almost constantly, this is the main disadvantage, because you come to the pool to relax, especially in the evening, but the children run, scream, and can splash the laptop along with you when they jump into the water. Here, of course, the problem is not Homa’s, but education. But this must be taken into account

I would also like to note that we encountered the following case: when we booked our stay, we paid the deposit by card. After some time, changes occurred at the bank and they changed the payment system from Master Card to Visa. At the same time, all clients' cards were forcibly closed. Now, when returning the deposit, Homa says that the refund is only possible to the card from which the payment was made. My offer to transfer the deposit to my other card was rejected.

I really believe that the Homa team will do everything possible to solve this problem and return the funds as soon as possible (almost 2 months have passed since the departure)

Upd. Issue with deposit is still on We checked out 17th of January I wrote to Homa 23th of February for the first time to inquire about deposit 20/02 - last letter from HOMA ("our team sent details to the bank") 12/03 - reminder from me and no...
