I had read reviews before booking room and even though they were rather poor we decided to go there. I'm not usually a picky person especially travelling through Asia, I was aware it's rather low budget option but after check out I said it out loud, Charlie House is was really bad place. At first sight it didn't seems so bad then I had a shower, imagine my suprise when I noticed almost finished bar of soup on the shelf (I was the first to enter bathroom after checking in...), the second thing that hit me (literally) was bed, extremally hard! The duvet cover seem more like two sheet because the blanket was going out of it on its length and wide, luckily we didn't need to use it, we had sth of our own to cover, the requests of the staff to give them the key to the room was at least strange to me, the last thing is the staff its self, the fact that made me feel the most angry about this place is that on the first morning we stayed there we had a telephone from reception if we want our room to be cleaned this day I said no (we just checked in evening before so there wasn't much to clean and more importantly I just didn't feel comfortbale to anybody enter room), guess what, the room was "cleaned" (only towels changed) when we got back... why did they even ask? The net day the same thing happend, there was no point to argue with them because staff's english was extremally poor, the efforts to get the information where can we buy post stamps or any other information was agony! On the other hand location is really good, lots of place to have a meal, 7 eleven and tesco lotus, Lumphini park and...

The Chinese lady Fam scammed me for 1500bht. I made the mistake to walk in and put down 1500 towards two nights a week later. Later that day I realized I needed to make a change. I called and there was no answer. I had to go back to the location only to discover that they close doors at 7pm. I had to go back the following day and speak to Fam and she refused to refund me claiming she had already made the booking.
So I asked for future credit. She wrote me a credit slip to use within 30 days. I was confident I could book 2 nights. I had 3 weeks left in the country. When I tried to book, i called and called and still no answer. Once back in Bangkok I went to the place to talk to Fam again. Oh surprise, just the two nights I wanted were fully booked. She had room available after I left Thailand. I asked if she could help me in any other way. She basically refused to help me.
Fam basically made the easiest 1500bht. I was rabid, but what else could I do? I had no recourse. I told her I would give her a bad review here and warn others of her terrible customer service.
You can check my reviews; I have many reviews. They are always fair, but this bad experience is a first. So please, foreign traveler, beware with this business and the lady running it. Book thru the site. I just had an expensive lesson.. consider it a lesson...
Read moreFrom the very first night, I started questioning how I could stay here for four days. Before mentioning any other issues, I have to say the bed is not even a bed it’s more like a yoga mat, extremely hard and doesn’t flex at all. I couldn’t sleep the first night. The next day, I informed the staff that I couldn’t stay and asked them to charge me only for one night and let me check out, but they reacted rudely.
The property is located in a dirty alley, inside a three-story building. The room was clean when I first arrived, but during my 4day stay, it was cleaned only once. There was no hand soap provided. They said they gave me a “room with a balcony,” which I thought was a good thing, but it wasn’t the noise from cars and motorbikes makes it impossible to sleep. The windows are old and let all the sound in, and the curtains are so thin that all the light comes through.
Even though there’s a balcony, smoking is not allowed there. My room is on the second floor, but to reach it from the street, you have to climb four flights of stairs, which is exhausting after a full day of walking around the city and even just to go smoke.
Since the electricity is controlled by the room card, the power turns off every time you leave, meaning the fridge also shuts down, which makes no sense at all.
The only positive aspect of this place is the friendly Korean staff member who was always smiling. Other than that, this has been one of the worst experiences...
