""" Detailed review """
The excel hotel is a solid 2 stars hotel , that doesn't meet , unfortunately, the regular standards of an open touristic estate . . at the reception: I have found a teenager directing the guests as a manager , I couldn't help myself noticing that the staff are forgetting their smile , and at the same time , they are using old methods to scratch pennies , like every hotel , they asked us to pay 3 TND per night as a general tax , but when you give them a note of 10 or 20 TND , you won't get the change back ( Fault that they don't have change money ) , I went there the day after to ask for the change , but they didn't give me a follow up regarding my demand and kept trying to avoid my question just to keep that small change ... Please note that the tips are Optional and it is the decision of the client , not the hotel staff . . The food is very limited : it is still edible , but the choice is thin , the quality of the food is lower than the normal, the breakfast and dinner are an open buffet style, I had to go to restaurants around the hotel to fill my stomach with sandwiches rather than risking getting sick in the middle of a holiday by eating, whatever they are serving in the buffet. . The rooms are a bit large compared to other hotels , but the hygiene is nowhere to be found , I have found a spider in the closet , instead of giving me a king bed , or a bed for two persons, they offered a room with two beds stacked for me and my wife , which is absurd, especially for newly married couples , the room sonority is not available, you can hear and listen to every word from the other rooms , the AC is Automatic for all the hotel , and you cannot control it manually . The music is loud all the time , and the swiming pool is always full with childrens everywhere Let's say : if you are looking for an emergency place , at a cheap price , it would suit you , but if you are looking for a stable place for at least 3 days and above , I would recommend staying away from this establishment. . PS : Nothing to do with the EU excel...
Read moreThis was my third and last visit to this country; our two previous stays have been great. Unfortunately this visit to the Excel hotel in Yasmine Hammemet has changed our perception of this country. We were moved from our original hotel due to the poor standard, and we were then assured this was the better option. However to our disappointment this was worse than the first hotel we were moved from. ||||Once checked into the Excel hotel, we found it was flea infested and the smell that can only be described as rotting litter throughout the corridors. I don't think the hotel has ever seen a hover, mop or duster. And the dining experience is a whole new experience in its self, if you’re happy to watch your weight this is the prefect hotel for you. With everything non edible on the menu (with the limited menu it was), as we were offered the same old slop every meal time. When we complained about the food and the general appearance of the hotel, one of the animation team agreed and said he doesn't eat in the hotel himself due to poor hygiene. As you can imagine this instilled great confidence in us for the remainder of our stay and we ended up paying daily to eat elsewhere. Once we had been informed of the poor hygiene standard in the kitchen, we tried raising the issue with the manager of the hotel but we were informed he was too busy to listen to our concerns, but it felt as if he couldn’t be bothered and was fobbing us off.||||Our British rep in country told us to get on with it and there was no other alternative offered. I can only assume the state of this country, is a direct result of the revolution as the country in general is totally run down. If you do decide to come to Tunisia, do yourself a favour and stay away from the Excel hotel. You would have more fun and edible food in...
Read moreRead moreI've stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks summer vacation. ||My first impression wasn't so good because of the "old" room, but actually the hotel itself is beautiful and has stunning public interior as well as exterior. If someone would invest in this place, would be perfect for romantic couple vacation!||||All in all, negatives are: ||-old and empty roomsthey are spacious and could be very nice if refurbished||-the restaurant is very poorly designed||-the choice of food is quite simple and not goodshould be improved definitely||-back garden with a swimming pool could be improved with flowers and some furniture||||But I see more positives here:||+beautiful and spacious terraces/balconies in rooms and hotel public terraces||+stunning front garden and the whole hotel entrance, both indoor and outdoor||+nice and clean swimming pool, small but big enough, with very nice parts with columns, stairs, gezebos around||+location is great, close to the beach and center of Hammamet||+very kind and good english speaking staff||++one of the best ice-creams ever I had in this hotel :)||+++when they set up dinner outside, in the back garden, around the swimming pool-just before the sunset-this is one of the most beautiful this type of evenings that I experienced in hotels, I even forgot about food that wasn't so good||||As a hotelier myself, I really hope that someone will show up, recognize the potential, improve this simple and beautiful place and get back their 4th star.||I would be happy to come back here, even if it is between those luxury multi star enormous resorts...
