PLEASE FULLY READ THIS REVIEW BEFORE BOOKING! Our journey at this hotel started with a manager offering an upgrade for a bigger room, and now we can see probably was a proposal as was in a different building, without lift. I'm 7 month pregnant, and we should refuse that as the room was on the 3rd floor. Everything was ok until there, as we truly believed that was a good will gesture. But then the nightmare started, the room was dirty, with coffee spread at the bed side table, trash left from the previous guests, a big long hairs at the 'clean' bed, our keys stuck at the door we couldn't not open the door, and the worst of the air conditioner wasn't working. First night we made a complain at midnight, staff came to help, with no solution and no sleep during the first night. The second day we made a complain and ask to change the room, now they changed us for the 1st floor, the room was clean, but still the air conditioner wasn't working, staff came in, and told me to sleep there as he doesn't have any air conditioner at home, so I should be able to sleep there. Me, 7 months pregnant, at 30 degree in a room I couldn't breathe!! I begged for a new room, as was showing availability on Booking, and he said they would be able to find a new room for me only the next day! Which was impossible, as I couldn't stay another night without sleeping in a room where I was feeling melting most of the time, or where I couldn't breathe. I left the hotel at that moment, crossed the road I found a room at the brand new hotel with a air conditioning fully working. We were paying for a service, if you announced that you have an air conditioning in your hotel, you should not tell your customer that if you don't have air conditioning in your house other people can live without it. Next day, we went to the hotel and spoke with the manager and the refund part of our money, but we truly believe we should me compensate for that as all the stress caused. I attempted to check in at 10am, as they told me if there were rooms ready I could. They took my details and confirmation number from booking.com, only to tell me to come back later. I left my bagpack and I sent the hotel a message to say I would be back at 8pm (the hotel is on a steep hill, and I’m not walking back and forth when I could just do my sightseeing). Arrived back about 8:30pm to check in again, they took my details again. Then I was walked to another hotel behind this. This other hotel (we’ll call it hotel A) was a 1 star rating on booking.com vs this one’s 3 star. It was also listed for 30€ that night, and I paid 54€ in advance. I was dropped off at hotel A and hotel A tried to charge me said 30€ for said room, and I kicked off about this before the guy from Kaya came to say it was okay. I got to the room in Hotel A (really not fit for purpose as there were holes behind electrical sockets, no floor sockets to charge phones and the shower head was broke so couldn’t shower). Kaya Hotel then had the audacity to mark me as a no show on Booking.com, which I have disputed since and I’m now chasing booking.com for a partial refund as well as involving my travel insurance. For booking.com not to take action on this is disgusting when there are likely other hotels for similar rates that don’t do this.
I went back to Kaya to request compensation and the guy pretended not to understand me and kept insisting I had breakfast (which was supposed to be included in the 54€ I paid for and would have been included in hotel A’s price as well). On the afternoon of our arrival May 19, I received a notice via sms to say my payment details needed updating within two hours or I'd lose my reservation. I responded with a message to say I was at the airport and will sort everything out as soon as I arrived within the hour. When we arrived, the reception man insisted that my booking was cancelled in the morning even though I only received a message at 2pm. He was not willing to accommodate us in the hotel, but could provide an alternative. This was some dodgy place down the road that I wouldn't have my dog stay in. The reception guy was aggressive and rude and talked over me the whole time. He said that he couldn't do anything since it was a holiday and the management offices were closed or some strange story. He told me to go since I didn't want the alternative and I could complain the next day. |I suspect that they resold my rooms at a much higher rate and used the credit card ruse as an excuse to get out of making good on my reservation. |I will never recommend this place if only for this...
