Hira Lokantası — Restaurant in Fatih

I have lived in and visited Istanbul for over 50 years. It has changed a lot in that time. I was so happy to find this place on my visit in early May. The food is good, basic Turkish traditional. They bake their own pide and lamacun. There is a waiter who speaks English, and they are honest. I ate here twice. You will not get a bill/check. They may ask you what you had when you are finished to tell you what you owe. This is the way it used to be. They also gave me a small, free salad that was delicious. It looked like others received the same. At a time when inflation is high and economic life uncertain, some restaurants are over charging or charging for food they did not deliver. I went with my family Twice but only because the first day there was a really nice staff (the guy with long hair) who welcomed us really well and treated us nicely specially my kids 🙂. The next day my kids wanted to go there again, that guy wasn't there and other staff weren't even bothered about welcoming anyone, on top there was a young boy who had a dead face the whole time. Also the food was good but only the first day; first the food was exactly as it showed on the menu and same amount as shown on menu but second day they gave half of portions of food, when we asked that young boy came to speak with as he was the only one around who could speak English and instead of apologising or changing the food he argued.

Great food and service. Very friendly staff. A few of the staff speak perfect English. All dishes on the menu have a price mentioned and the prices are very good. For example a sis kuzu meal (lamb skewers, rice and salad) costs 50 lira. A plate of fries costs 10 lira. Lahmacun costs 8 lira and it's very popular. During my stay in Istanbul i ate here as much as possible. In other restaurant i only ate once because the food there was terrible. But at this restaurant after the first meal i was sold. Best food i had in Istanbul. Would recommend 100%. Only negatives is the slow WiFi and the airco is lacking but that was no problem for me because i just wanted good food.
