Me and my partner traveled here in June 2014 and stayed for a week. We had room 402 which perfectly over looked beach was beautiful, sun doesn't hit balcony till 1pm so nice cooling mornings relaxing on the balcony. The rooms are basic no frills, fridge (only cold when room key is in so only over night) AC which we didn't need with the cooling sea breeze, tv. It was not lap of luxury but then we didn't pay that sort of money. The hotel staff are really nice people very helpful and do make and effort for you. Food was basic menu but then it was all over side unusual for beach restaurants. The beach is sandy and right out side hotel and I mean like a 15 sec walk could see my lounger from room. As I walked to the west of hotel there is a club and all the larger hotels beaches much much busier and lot of it raised shore on rocks, the small stretch of beach out side the neptun was perfect sand all way to water some soft larger wave breaking rocks and not deep waist height for about 50 meters. Not one pestered you on this part so it really peaceful and relaxing with some slow wifi. Walk east a minute or two and you hit the maze of markets they do pester you a fair bit but not to bad. Lots of places to eat and drink on Coast to watch sun set etc....||Over all it was lovely hotel with lovely staff and best location in side has to be. Would 100% go back just make sure you get a room with a view as it makes up for a leaky shower head.||Couple friendly, basic breakfast but fresh, shop, bar, food on beach, wifi, room want cleaned all week only real negative, but anything we asked for they gave us. Great little gem a little revamp and would be a boutique easy with...
Read moreA friend and I recently stayed at this hotel for a week. While the owners and staff (particularly those in the adjacent bistro ) were welcoming and helpful, the hotel was very disappointing It is really shabby (the photographs on their site ,were very creatively taken ), and a health and safety nightmare. There is no lift and we were originally allocated rooms on the 4th and 5th floors , accessed only by an unevenly spaced stone staircase. There is no handrail , so we had to grip the inner stone wall , for balance , as the outer edge was made of very dilapidated wood which barely reached waist height. One room was found for us on the 1st floor, from the second day of our stay , but I lived in constant fear of falling down or tripping up the staircase. Our rooms were not well serviced. The light sockets were dirty and the electric socket for the hairdryer in both rooms was hanging off the wall. You had to step down into the shower and there was no grab handle .I was terrified that I would slip.My friend reported a leak in her bathroom which was not addressed at all. We would...
Read moreThis is a fairly small and basic hotel that would not suit people who are looking for ultra modern or high end luxury.||However, for us it is exactly what we look for in any destination:||Fantastic location; 5 - 7 minutes from the centre of Old Side and right on the beach with its own private section. It is also away from the big, noisy resorts further aong the promenade. If you have a seaview room, especially with balcony, you are perfectly placed to watch the sunsets with a nice bottle of wine.||The rooms, although basic and not highly decorated are spotlessly clean with maid service every day. Clean towels and sheets changed as required and a large'ish fridge in the room for all your needs.||The staff (and owners) could not be more welcoming and always take time to chat to their guests, having a laugh and getting to know them as appropriate.||As I said, maybe not to everyone's tast but our priorities are: location, cleanliness, comfortable beds, proper toilets and staff who care. All this the Neptun delivers and at a cost of 18 GBP per room per night...
