Kasalina Gardens Apartments exceeded my expectations. The website photos are largely spot on; the exception being the pool, which is much smaller than the impression I got from the website.||||Pros -- Location, Facilities and Service||||Location: Kasalina Gardens is located in Nakasero, one of Kampala's more upscale, safe neighborhoods.||||Facilities:||||My one bedroom, Apartment 1C, had a nice living room with good modern fixtures, large sliding windows, a balcony, and an adjacent kitchenette, with a microwave, stove and plenty of kitchen cabinets.||||The bedroom and bathroom are both very spacious. The bedroom has plenty of closet space and a nice, large bed, equipped with a mosquito net. There is also a dresser and working desk. The bathroom has a large mirror and a toiletry cabinet under the sink. The shower-head's rain-like water comes forth with good pressure, and plenty of hot water. ||||The WiFi is reliable and fast, and was on throughout my stay. The one time during my one-month stay that the electricity failed, the generator seamlessly kicked in. ||||Out of curiosity, I checked out one of the two bedroom apartments. It was very impressive, and extremely spacious, with two living room spaces, a dining area, and a rather large kitchen -- the two bedroom apartments are perhaps the best of their kind in Kampala. ||||||Finally, the compound is green and well-maintained, with lots of plants and flowers.||||||Service:||||Florence, the manager is professional, helpful and acts on all requests and inquiries immediately and fast. She is always willing to help personally, or else she assigns one of her staff to assist. One night, I hosted my parents to a dinner in my apartment, but since two of my siblings and nieces decided to come along, the utensils and plates within the apartment were not enough. When Florence learned of it, she graciously lent me more of everything! ||||Florence also ensured that cleaning staff did not cut any corners. The staff changed bed-sheets and bathroom towels daily, and cleaned/moped the floors throughout the apartment. Just before I left, all the apartments' air-conditioning units were checked, and the next day all units were fumigated, even though I did not see any bugs or foreign objects throughout my stay.||||All the staff: Sam, Vicki, Hassam, and a lady from Arua, whose name now escapes me, were friendly, helpful and efficient. The security guards were also exceptional, professional and diligent, only opening the gate after checking the identity of the visitors, and calling to check to ensure that they were expected by residents.||||Cons: There is a bar across the street, Valhalla, and a little farther down the road, a night-club, called Game. So if your apartment faces the road, the music, particularly on weekends, renders it very difficult to sleep. I know Florence has talked to those establishments' managers at various times, but perhaps city authorities need to intervene, or require some sound-proofing for night clubs and other such establishments, short of relocation.||||But overall, I recommend Kasalina Gardens very highly. And I certainly hope to stay there again, if I manage to secure one of the apartments, which are deservedly in very high demand. ||||Bravo to the...
Read moreMy husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Kasalina Gardens this past December for 14 days. Our stay was absolutely perfect. From the kind, courteous, and professional staff, to the meticulous, comfortable rooms, common areas and exercise facility, our experience was nothing less than exceptional.||||It was my first time in Kampala so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and general manager, Florence. We were shown to our apartment and our bags were quickly brought up. Checking in was a breeze! ||||The grounds were immaculately kept and there was security present 24/7 so we felt very safe! There was a nicely sized gym and even a rooftop pool. The complex is perfectly nestled in close proximity to downtown and restaurants. ||||Once we entered the apartment, we were shocked by the large square footage, beautiful décor and modern furniture. It was just like the photos online! The apartment was well air conditioned with a washer/dryer, spacious kitchen and two living rooms. It was bigger than our apartment at home! ||||Since it was our first time in Kampala we kept busy with daily activities and the staff was very helpful with answering questions and providing guidance on tours so we could make the most of our trip. We would leave to explore the city and come back to a perfectly cleaned apartment. It was nice to not to be in a hotel where it felt like housekeeping was always knocking on your door! This serviced apartment experience was amazing because it truly felt like home away from home with modern amenities. ||||My husband and I have traveled a lot internationally and Kasalina Gardens without a doubt has been our favorite place to stay. We will definitely be staying here next time we visit Kampala; it’s the embodiment of excellent...

During my time in Uganda, I've stayed at Kampala Serena & Speke Resort. While those are specifically hotels, and this is a fully-serviced apartment, I would still choose Kasalina over either of them in a heartbeat.
Florence (property manager), and Sam (head of maintenance) are the two most professional and caring individuals I've met at any property. Florence gave us a tour of both the 1 bedroom and 2 bedroom units - and made us feel so unbelievably welcome, that we immediately signed for a month.
No matter what minor thing I noticed, they immediately resolved it - and I mean IMMEDIATELY. The washing machine had a very slight amount of dust or dirt in it when we checked in - and I assumed they would simply clean it out for us. Instead Sam CARRIED it out, and brought a NEW one in. Truly, I've never had better service than they offered.
The apartments are HUGE, and beautifully decorated. The pool area is wonderful and private. The compound is the MOST secure I've seen, and is located in a great area. The gateman is welcoming and friendly.
There are TWO standby generators - which cut on in the blink of an eye, providing power around the clock. They have WiFi units in each room - and the internet could be a little bit faster, but they are absolutely reliable and we stayed connected without any issues.
I've stayed in hundreds of hotels, all over the world - London, NYC, San Diego, Manila, Bangkok, Seoul, Miami - and I would absolutely rank Kasalina Gardens as the best of...
