I recently stayed at InterContinental Abu Dhabi and overall, it was a truly pleasant and relaxing experience that I will definitely repeat in the future.
What I liked most The excellent service and the cleanliness stood out the most. I really felt that I didn’t need anything else – everything one could want to relax is available in one place. The hotel offers great facilities, with two swimming pools and a private beach. I especially appreciated the thoughtful service of providing free cold water both at the hotel pool and at the Club pool & beach, where there are also special refill stations for your own bottles – a small detail that makes a big difference in the hot weather.
What could be improved As a frequent traveler, I do have a few recommendations:
The food selection was diverse, but I found it difficult to get simpler options, especially for children. Many dishes were heavy, with sauces and spices. Although the chefs were kind enough to sometimes prepare plain fish, it would have been very helpful to always have simple daily options such as grilled chicken breast or plain grilled fish. The beef was also almost always served rare, which is not ideal for children.
A small tip for future guests: Nutella is available for breakfast, but only upon request. We only found this out during the last two days of our stay. It would be wonderful if Nutella could be available more openly, without needing to ask, or at least if guests were informed from the first day.
Refreshing some of the furniture and replacing the mattresses, which felt a bit worn out, would make the stay even more comfortable.
Exceptional Service Recognition While not every interaction was perfect, the vast majority of staff were warm and professional. Several people truly made a difference during our stay:
Emad at the Selections restaurant, who always welcomed us with a genuine smile and made our day brighter every single time – a truly special person.
At the Club Lounge, Vince and Ofelia were simply outstanding – always kind, friendly, and attentive, making us feel cared for in the best way possible.
And last but definitely not least, our favorite “busy bee” Rebecca, who kept our room fresh and spotless every day. Thanks to her hard work and cheerful attitude, we always returned to clean, beautifully scented linens and towels. She deserves special praise for making our stay even more enjoyable.
Final thoughts InterContinental Abu Dhabi offers everything you need in one place for a relaxing holiday: spacious pools, a private beach, excellent service, and a friendly atmosphere. Despite the few areas for improvement, our experience was overwhelmingly positive thanks to the wonderful staff, the high level of cleanliness, and the overall comfort. We look forward to coming...
Read moreIt was a bad experienced from a very well known property. Me and my wife felt ashamed to my mom experience and to our cousins as our witness in our wedding. After bragging how good this brand to experience it turned shameful . We did a mistake of assuming all ihg brand can be all same with the service bt not. From the night we checked in and how the story came different of how they informed us about the room to ur operator how to picked up the phone are very rude. Are they rude because we ask a favor to my wife friends to follw his recommendation and gve us a best rate. Or they are rude because we are same kabayan who checked in us?? Or because we asked the best rate from our friend they thought we cnt spend any single dirhams in your property??
However its all done they gave us a stressful night bfre the day of our wedding.. Cheers to all the team we encountered who didnt make the things right from the beginning of this booking.. we only have one time and memorable experience to get marry but they are repeatable stressing us. Even we mentioned its our wedding and we dnt want to get stress.
We are only happy with ur restaurant service they are the only can be the reason to light up our stay. We spent a lot and worth service in your 2 restaurants. We didnt even openly used your club lounge only today bfast wth my mom and afternoon tea with my wife, just to grab a coffee and tea bt the way vince and shielaa welcoming us its like we are a long staying guest here. Its not because they are my kabayan bt they well trained wht is the true meaning of hospitality compared to your 2 kabayan named theresa and the pinay dm... goodluck to both of them. They are not genuine and nt even pinay dm incharge to make it up to us nor talk to us to handle the matter instead theresa said so whats the problem here?? Whhooaaa what a responsed to my wife last night that im thankful my wife has a good temper and control to a very wrong reponsed as my wife also working in diffirent brand of hotel here in uae.Mybe they thought we are only looking fr free things.. never. We hve money to spend.. we are looking for friendly service... and we are not colleague we can gve a feedback. They could make things or handle it properly bt they ignored us repeatedly.. thanks...
Read moreMy wife and I, a British retired couple in our early 70’s, stayed at the Abu Dhabi Intercontinental Residences for 3 months in the Autumn of 2023 and 4 months in the Autumn/Winter of 2024/5. The attraction of Abu Dhabi is the weather at that time of the year and the number of events such as Golf and the Motor Racing GP. Abu Dhabi is making a big and very successful effort to attract active tourists as long stay guests we find a multitude of things to do even on a long stay.
The IHG Residences are a perfect home for us. It is close to the well designed and attractively landscaped Corniche as well as the Presidential Palace and other premium hotels. We took a 2,000 square foot 2 bedroomed apartment with 3 large balconies facing the sea each more than 150 sq ft, making them virtually additional rooms. The Residences property opened in 2023 so everything is pristine and well maintained by the excellent housekeeping staff. Short term residents have a cleaner on a daily basis and long-term residents have a clean and sheet change twice a week.
The attraction for us is the outdoor facilities. The hotel has a beach club which has pools including children’s areas, gyms and a wide sandy beach. The hotel, which is adjacent to the Residences, has a large and well-maintained pool as well as health club and spa and the Residences has its own facilities for residents. The Residence pool and its facilities including gym, sauna, steam room, etc are very efficiently run by Pap and his strong and helpful team. Next to the pool is a small café which serves refreshments and it became a welcome sight to see Pankai, the cheerful morning shift waiter, preparing my latte as I finished my ‘laps’ in the pool.
In summary the country is excellent, and I have tried several hotels for my winter break but The Intercontinental Residences stands head and shoulders above the others for us. The building, facilities and the staff are of the highest standard and we look forward to returning each year to see continued development of Abu Dhabi as a...
