Hyatt Place Baniyas Square is an interesting location. It fits well with people who want to immerse themselves into old Dubai with the fast pace night life of fast foods and local street food to all the massive supermarkets.
Stayed here for two short durations of stays. As usual with Dubai/UAE, all guests must bring passports to check in. This makes it so you cannot use the Hyatt Mobile Key until checking in physically. Unfortunately unsure if it is due to the hotel but I could not get the mobile key working on my second stay. Check in process was easy both times, first with Jaideep, and secondly with Vartika. Service from staff was well and everyone was kind from the stays, and I even had a courtesy call to check how things were going from Vartika, which was kind and appreciated.
Location wise, you will be close to a metro station, You will be close to food locations, and hyper/super markets. This makes it easy to get around, and buy food or things you would need/forgotten. One thing is that the traffic is pretty bad, and upon my first visit, I found that there was no parking on site. This is a huge thing for people renting a car as it can be hard to find street parking in such a busy location. There are 4 spots owned by the hotel, and may be available for use upon asking, but YMMV. I would not recommend people driving to stay due to that issue. The public parking structure is nearby before the entrance, and is 5 AED/hr or 40 AED/day. I got lucky with them giving me a spot out of curetesy, but it might not apply to everyone. Getting from here to tourist areas farther south will be a bit of a drive, which is usually 25-35 minutes, but with traffic (very common), probably pushing closer to 45 mins+.
Cost wise, prices seem fair along with other hotels around. If you travel with points, you do get this via Hyatt points still at a Category 1. 3500, 5000, or 6500 points makes this a very affordable stay, especially on off-peak seasons.
Status wise, Hyatt places can offer early checkin/late check out. On my first stay, I was offered a late checkout which wasn't needed. On the second stay, I requested an early checkin via phone call but was denied it unfortunately. All Hyatt places come with free breakfast so WOH status probably wouldn't help too much here. No premium wifi, and wifi was decent stay 1 but spotty stay 2.
Food was pretty average in my opinion. Wasn't too fancy or disappointing and pretty in line with what free breakfasts give. You do have some more cultural foods, but the selection wasn't large. Can be a hit or miss for some.
Amenities wise, had a lot of water offered to me. All but one time I asked for water I was able to get it. (not sure what happened one time but it was never delivered). They do have things like dental kits, slippers, etc, but YMMV, sometimes they have it in room, and sometimes you have to ask for it. They have a small square pool at the top floor, and a small gym as well.
Room wise, things were clean and as requested. Some USB ports did not charge so bring adapters/chargers in case. Otherwise you have your selection of a king, or 2 twins, and both rooms come with a sofa bed.
Overall, a decent place to stay at to enjoy the busy and cultural lifestyle of Old Dubai and Baniyas Square. Service was great. Parking and driving here is tough, so try to use the metro.
Thanks Jaideep for helping me the first visit, especially with the parking.
Thanks Vartika for helping me on the second, and also checking...

Read moreWe are currently staying at Hyatt place and it was our first day of the breakfast. We were really amazed seeing that Hyatt has just keep one option for vegetarian people that is Chole and the bread which was pale and not even baked properly. The chef or deciding people doesn't even know what indian cuisine should be served in breakfast. The staff right from reception is very rude. The buffet breakfast waa served at restaurant name kulcha king, we ask them for pickle with Chole and the bread /roti and to my surprise the chef told pickle is finished and it's served only in lunch and dinner. What a lame excuse of not to attend the guest and understand their requirements! They are charging us good money and in that if u r not able to provide good breakfast then what's t use. Wen we complained to them they told they have to maintain multicuisine but even in multi cuisine there were very less food item. Esp for vegetarian there was not even poha and upma. The worst hospitality I have ever experienced with Hyatt. Even we wanted plates in our room to eat our food and they replied that they give empty plates only to those who eats in their restraunt. And they asked us to come to the reception for that. What an insult it is, why the gyes should come for every small thing to the reception where as we are paying good amount for the room and stay. I m putting the pics of Indian breakfast where people will come to know about their buffet breakfast . It's only chole, roti, some big potatoes and something of curd which you can't eat only. Very bad hospitality and hope they...
