Pros - Customer service was faultless. Staff from the check-in desk to the cleaners were polite, welcoming, and attentive.
The room was clean and presentable, and what you'd expect from a Premier Inn.
I was pleased that free parking was offered to guests.
Cons - The day that I stayed was a particularly hot day. The corridors within the hotel require moving air throughout. Currently, the air is stale, stuffy, and smells of sweat. Moving air would help tackle this issue.
The towels within the room were awful. I was left covered from head to toe in fluff after use. I actually had to brush myself off, which is doubly difficult in a warm environment. They require replacing, as nobody can be happy with the current state of them.
Another pet-peeve is filthy TV remotes. Mine hadn't been cleaned in some time. This item is one that is most definitely touched by every guest, and is often left on the bed amongst dirty bedding. I dread to think of the amount of bacteria on a remote that hasn't been cleaned in some time. Please clean them!
Breakfast was disappointing. One of the foods that I always looked forward to were the flapjacks that Premier Inn used to offer. It seems that either they may no longer offer them, or this hotel has made the choice not to.
I'm unsure what method is used to cook the bacon, but I would suggest that they were cooked for a little longer, as I hate undercooked bacon - pale, limp pieces of meat. In my opinion it should have slight browning to it (exactly as it looks on the breakfast menu). Also, little attention was being paid to the buffet, as there were items that required replacing that had been neglected for longer than I would expect - a pot of beans with no beans in it, just bean juice.
My partner is vegetarian, and the bacon and sausage options were really poor. Dry, overcooked, and visually unappealing.
Lastly, despite being in the open air fridge, the yoghurt was room temperature.
Other than that, a...
Read moreRoom was acceptably clean, though there was a rather noisy air vent that was on all night.
The guts of the story: Arrived from the airport at 130am having pre booked online. Took the night porter a good ten minutes to navigate the computer to make sure I was booked in, then he couldn't even tell me if my dad had paid the room in advance or not. I told him I would sort it in the morning.
Another lady travelling with me and a couple that arrived separately wanted to book as walk ins and the night porter wasn't even capable of getting the card machine to work.
The couple left their cards with the porter as a guarantee and got a room opened to them for the night. As the other lady (otherwise on her own) wasn't willing to do this she couldn't get access to a room for the night even though she was willing to pay for it.
The night porter called a supervisor who wasn't able to help him process a booking, and when the lady talked to her she said she would either like a room opened to be paid for in the morning or she would have to otherwise stay in the reception as she had no cash and nowhere else to go as she wasn't a local in Bristol. At this point it was 3am.
She ended up being told the police where being called as she wouldn't leave the building so at this point my friend and I invited her to our room for the night.
Firstly shame on premier inn for putting incompetent staff on overnight when he could have been faced with any number of walk ins.
Secondly shame on the lady supervisor for being willing to either have an older woman travelling on her own make the choice between being arrested or being tossed onto the street in an otherwise unsavoury part of town at 3am. Shame. On. You.
I'm just glad my friend and I stuck around to make sure she got sorted.
Don't book here if you want any kind of decent or respectable...
Read moreMyself, my partner and two friends stayed here for two nights. We always stay Prem Inns as they are clean and comfortable in the bedrooms etc and usually the attached restaurant is good. I'm sorry I gave 2 stars for the Prem Inn (bedrooms etc) as they were lovely. The two stars is for the restaurant. Our first nights meal on 10th January said Brewers Fayre was exceptionally disappointing! We all did the £23.99 meal deal which includes 2 course dinner with a drink and breakfast the next day. For our meal we ordered the Doom Bar pie with mash and greens. My pie was burnt on the outside and the meat throughout all 4 pies was chewy and fatty, we all spat out some of contents into serviettes. The veg and mash were quite cool, not warm. One of our friends ordered a glass of rose as her one drink with the deal and we were told she couldn't have it! We stay several times a year at Prems and do meal deals and we are always offered either red, white or rose glass of wine or a lager or beer! My partner and his friend went to the toilet and said the men's toilet floor was sticky and wet and not pleasant to use.! The next day we arrived back to hotel at 4pm after a day out, and we asked if we could have a cup of tea each in the restaurant, rather than going off to our separate bedrooms for tea. The woman behind the bar gave us 4 mugs and said "it's over there", get your tea bags and water there and help yourself" which is fine, but ..'".. then she charged us £10.72! We couldn't believe it! As it stands we should have just gone sat in our bedroom and drunk tea with the complimentary ones. When you ask at reception for a couple more bags ever, they give you them! All in all the Brewers Fayre not good place to eat. But the Prem Inn bedroom...
