I stayed at this hotel for two nights during a visit to Edinburgh for a wedding. The reason that we chose this hotel was due to the link to Marriott Bonvoy program and reasonable pricing among other central options.
Even though I was a bit concerned with less than 4 stars on most review websites, the hotel was pleasantly comfortable and provided all the necessities I expect at a 4* hotel. I was also concerned about the distance from the city centre but with bus 100 departing every 10 minutes and journey taking less than 25 minutes and stopping right outside the hotel, the distance was not a problem at all. The staff were friendly and offered complimentary breakfast for the first morning due to my Marriott status which was really kind. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay and I would definitely consider staying there.
Details on some specifics are as follows:
Welcome: I arrived at the hotel at 10:30 pm and I was pretty tired. The check-in staff were already prepared and welcomed me by mentioning the complimentary breakfast which made me really happy to arrive. I also noticed that I was given a premium room even though I booked a deluxe one which might be an upgrade due to Marriott bonvoy membership.
Room: While walking to my room, the style and the hard elements of the hotel (e.g. elevators, carpets) made me think that the hotel was aged. But as soon as I entered the room, I noticed the effort to keep the rooms pleasant and up to date. A huge TV, coffee machine, tea kettle and biscoffs were really nice touches. The bathroom furnishings were a bit aged but apart from that the room offered everything I needed. The walls and door were passing on the sound from surrounding rooms a bit too much which was a down side of the stay.
Restaurant: We had breakfast both mornings at the hotel restaurant which offered a wide variety of options which were fresh and nice. The staff were so quick to clear the tables and keep the restaurant clean and ready.
Service: The staff were friendly and addressed all our requests quickly. I didn't even have a single unpleasant interaction.
Spa: I briefly used the spa during my stay. Even though it's small and the changing rooms don't seem well maintained, it does the job with the pool, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There are way to many children shouting around though if you are looking for a serene experience.
Location: The hotel is 20-25 minutes from the city centre and more suitable to be considered as an airport hotel. But with 24 hour airport buses, it's very easy to reach the city centre and enjoy the city. I didn't feel bothered without the location being far at all. If you need a place to stay near the airport, it is also a great option.
Overall: It was a pleasant, good value stay. It's not super central but still very easy to reach to the city centre and the hotel offers many amenities which makes the stay fun. I would definitely consider staying here if I'm looking for a good value stay...

If I could give this hotel zero stars, I would. Staying here was a nightmare from start to finish, and frankly, I’m appalled this place dares to carry the Marriott name. Here’s why: Shocking Housekeeping Standards: We stayed for five nights, and the cleaning staff managed to grace us with their presence twice—once on the first day and a second time only after we had a heated altercation with the reception on Day 4. Until then, we were left with dirty towels, an unmade bed, and trash piling up. Speaking of towels, we had to share one small and one big towel between two people for four days. This level of neglect is simply unacceptable. The Half-Board Scam: We paid extra for half-board, only to be told at check-in that such an option “doesn’t exist.” After much back and forth, they suddenly “remembered” it exists but framed it as a limited budget per guest per night. The restaurant manager treated us like we were freeloaders rather than paying guests. We arrived at 8 PM (well before the 9 PM kitchen closure), but he deliberately stalled “sorting things out” until 9 PM to avoid serving us. When I refused to order drinks while waiting for their incompetence to resolve, he acted like we were the problem. I don’t pay for half-board to be guilt-tripped into spending more money or to be treated like an inconvenience. Appalling Pet Policy: We traveled with our dog, as we’ve done across 20 countries without issue. Every other hotel has provided a dog bed, food, and water bowls—basic decency, really. Here? Nothing. After politely requesting at the reception, they dismissively handed us one bowl. Apparently, our dog should take turns deciding whether he wants food or water. Truly unbelievable. Dirty and Unsafe Facilities: The towels were dirty from the moment we arrived, and they remained that way until we practically begged for replacements on Day 4. The lack of baggage storage is also baffling for a hotel claiming to meet Marriott standards. Luggage is just left on the side of the reception, completely accessible to anyone who walks in. How this passes as secure storage is beyond me. Zero Value for Money: For a hotel branded under Marriott, this place is worse than a budget bed-and-breakfast. Dirty towels, nonexistent housekeeping, rude staff, and no basic pet amenities—nothing about this experience was worth the price we paid. It was an insult to travelers everywhere.
If you value your time, money, and sanity, do yourself a favor: avoid the Delta Hotels Marriott in Edinburgh at all costs. You’ll save yourself a lot of frustration and disappointment. Marriott should be ashamed to put its name on this...

I booked the room through Priceline and when I arrived they told me that due to Priceline’s fault they were overbooked and couldn’t give me a room. I was offered a complementary beverage (a beer, “small wine,” or coke - apparently not enough inconvenience for a cocktail or food or something nice) while I wait for them to sort it out. Okay.
30 minutes later, I ask for an update. On hold with Priceline. Nothing they can do. Maybe I’d rather wait on hold with them instead? No thanks… They’ll get back to me as soon as they can.
20 minutes later, I ask for another update. They’ve been hung up on twice, nothing they can do, they cancelled the reservation entirely now and are trying to find something else for me. Okay. In the meantime, can I have another Diet Pepsi? Sure. Okay.
Now I start looking at other options myself. I’m not even quite sure what they are doing. Presumably they’re going to get me a room at the same price? I notice there is another Marriott hotel nearby. After another 20 mins, I go up and ask, can’t they just transfer my reservation to that one? Well, that one is 40 pounds more expensive, but they can call them for me. Or I could stay at Brittania in the city centre - inconvenient and much worse, but the price would be similar.
Wait? Are you basically saying I’m on my own then? Well, the room wasn’t prepaid so there is nothing they can do. Not their fault. They are so sorry. Look, I tell them, I can get a much better price on that other hotel than what they are quoting (even though it is their own company’s!) so I’ll do it on my own. I do, and it’s about the same price I originally paid for this one, maybe 10 pounds more. Why I waited nearly 90 mins for this outcome I have no idea. I enjoyed my two diet cokes though and their wifi works…
Would I like them to get me a taxi over there? That’s something they “wouldn’t mind” doing (unlike, it is implied, getting me a room at the price I originally was promised). No thanks, I say, now disgusted. I think to myself that if it’s anything like what’s happened so far it will be an hour before it arrives. I take my chances. Had I agreed to their taxi I’d probably still be there.
What happened to responsibility and accountability? I don’t know how much of this is due to incompetent (though mostly nice) employees versus a corporate culture that does not value customer experience. What I do know is that, absent some significant gesture, my opinion of Marriott is greatly tarnished and I’ll think twice before staying at one of their...
