Almost in disbelief that I'm writing this review. I visited Fat Jackets on 19th June 2025 for a jacket potato to share with my partner. Me and my partner was on holiday visiting my partners family. My partner has been here before and was explaing how good it was so I was looking forward to trying it. We put our order in and asked if the order contains any peanuts as I have a peanut allergy (not expecting it to but always best to check) the lady behind the counter had an allergy book where she checked and it didn't contain anything. She then said she would just check with her manager who was behind her. The manager then came over to us where she said "we don't serve people with nut allergies." I was in disbelief, never once in 30 years have I ever been refused food because of an allergy, especially a jacket potato. I explained that if I had a reaction to anything it would be on me, you've checked your allergy book you're not actively putting peanuts in my order, the allergy book doesn't say it contains peanuts, I would take responsibility if anything happened. The manager wasn't having any of it and wouldn't take our order and said they have the right to refuse service. I've never felt discriminated before about my peanut allergy but this place did a very good job of it. Always had food places work with me and do there best to accommodate for me. There was no apology or soft approach, just felt I was in the wrong for having an allergy, me and my partner were stood there in shock, this has never happened before. If you have any kind of allergy especially nut, please avoid Fat Jackets unless you want to feel belittled or discriminated against because of somthing out of your control. Attached is a photo of the restaurant and the two workers we...
Read moreDONT MIX THEIR SALT AND PEPPER SACHETS I was refused custom because my nephew who is 6 was standing at the counter and mixed up the salt and pepper sachets in the basket. The man serving (guessing he is the owner) said to my nephew "Now im going to have seperate all of them!". I'm thinking this guy must be joking since he's talking to a child. Then starts to accuse me of not controling my child... if my nephew had thrown the whole basket on the floor or the table, or had been screaming and running around, i would have found it necessary to stop him, but not for standing there and mixing up a few sachets of salt and pepper in a basket. Based on the other reviews, the service from this establishment seems to be: owner gets upset, owner throws a tantrum, owner then refuses custom. Tip: If you dont want your salt and pepper sachets mixed up in the 1 basket, maybe seperate them into 2 baskets. If you're really craving a baked potato, try "baguette express" downstairs in the foodcourt. Much better service and...
Read moreWaverley market one is brilliant! Nice and open, tables clean, no mess. The server Jess is so friendly and welcoming and a baked potato genius. I've never had one so soft, but massive with potato and filling. Usually I find you get some hard lumpy bits of potato in places I've tried in the past but not here. I got the salt, pepper, butter and cheese with a beautiful curry on top. Unbelievable! Especially on a cold winter day and you want something quick, filling and very affordable. Will be back...
