This hotel is, as others have noted, ideally located. Right opposite the sea and not far from the shops, pier and restaurants. However, whilst our rooms were spotlessly clean, they were tiny. None of our 3 rooms had a view and in fact 2 of them were blighted by a huge extractor fan right outside our windows which came on at 7am every day. Presumably when breakfast started. So no chance of any kind of lie-in. Only 1 room had any kind of chair and that was of the straight backed dining variety. The curtain (not curtainS, in any room) in one room barley covered the window. The staff were lovely but the hotel was very odd. It was huge. But there was no useable lounge area downstairs - a cavernous bright area with white and chrome furniture waiting for.....a function/wedding? Breakfast was £9.50. But there was no variable rate ie: £5 for tea and toast. Full breakfast was very good, no buffet, but of you didn't want cereal, yoghurt, porridge, toast, croissant and full English then that was it. There was a well-stocked bar in the huge reception, breakfast, lounge area and my friend and I had thought we'd pop down for a night cap once our aged relative was in bed. However there was no one to serve and really nowhere to sit. There is a very well maintained seating area at the front of the hotel with a few bistro tables and lovely roses - we understood there had recently been a refurb - but in the evening the sun had moved west and the area was in shadow.
If you want an inexpensive clean place to stay and are going to be out from early till late it is ok here - though you might have to hunt for a car space. I would say it was more of Youth Hostel standard.
If you want a tiny bit of comfort (2 curtains, a chair, a large bath towel, proper double glazing, some quiet, or a useable lounge where you can chat) so that you can rest for an hour or 2 before dinner then this is not for you.
There were very few people staying when we were there at the end of May, and yet none of us had a room with any kind of view. We had not asked for single beds, just 3 separate rooms, and all of the beds were narrow singles.
We enjoyed our stay in Eastbourne but I would not stay in this hotel again. The Russian staff were lovely and helpful but when we checked out we were not asked how we had enjoyed our stay.
But if you want a cheap, clean, very basic place to stay on the seafront then...
Read moreStayed here last weekend. With my wife. Booked a double room with sea view only to find about 9:30 pm it was two single beds put together with one sheet on top. ! Very uncomfortable. There was only one chair in the so called double room. Taking all into account I would have complained that night but we were both in our pyjamas and the disappointment had already happened. My wife rang them on Sunday for a refund. Was told to ring Wednesday. Today. And the owner still isn’t there .. was told if it was that bad we would have complained that night ..:: after of course we got dressed fully into our day clothes. Went down to reception and moved rooms. By this time it was already too late. We originally when booking into the hotel pre paid for two breakfasts in the morning, which I might add we did not eat as just wanted to get out of there. Yes the room was clean but that was it. It has what they call an alacarte menu with steak as an option but has no sauce to go with the steak but tomato ketchup In a little packet ! Laughable. Very very disappointing. I hate putting this kind of review. Please if you have read this far click on my name and read my other reviews so you know I’m not a malicious...
Read moreWe booked 2 single sea view rooms and were given adjacent rooms so one of them actually had a King size bed and a fridge!! The sea views were spectacular and although the road was a bit noisy in the day, it was quiet at night. but, obviously, you could still hear the sea.|The parking permit, paid for at reception - well under £3 - allowed parking until 11am the next day in any Zone H space. We were lucky and easily found a space right opposite the hotel on both Saturday and Sunday, despite there being a major event on the Saturday evening.|The rooms were clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast was cooked to order and delicious with limitless coffee. The restaurant was not open in the evenings but there were plenty of dining options nearby. |We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel considering the price. We hope to visit...
