The 1 star review here by "Liam Jebb" is nothing but a malicious fantasy. I believe it was inspired by a mentally ill lady that the Sandwich Bar staff virtually acted as an extra social service for until her condition became so bad that she created scene after scene and the owner had very reluctantly to ban her.
I have been going here almost daily for 12 years and a friendlier place you simply will not find in Eastbourne. It really is like the words of the theme song of the old TV series "Cheers" in that it's a place "where everyone knows your name" and the reasons for that are Nicky, Peter and Nelly, all of whom are extremely and genuinely friendly and helpful in any way that they can be.
When I think of the place the one thing that pops into my mind instantly is the laughter which occurs both behind and in front of the counter almost every time that I am there, together with the smiling faces of the staff.
The cafe is clean and bright and from the summer of 2018 will have an outdoor back garden which receives the sun directly.
In addition to it's friendliness it is also one of the least expensive (if not THE least expensive) cafes in Eastbourne.
Please do not me misled by the outright lies in the review...
Read moreReally good old style Cafe with good food and friendly staff. Very reasonable prices. Update: 24.06.2021 I've been eating at this place for years. Mostly getting a takeaway sandwich and a cup of tea when I've been working in the area. I've now realised that all these years I've be doing the place a disservice. Since Nikki has taken over it has been given a new lease of life. Nikki takes real pride in what she serves and the way she treats people. Always friendly, always helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. In the last couple of years she has transformed the place. Everything is super clean, the loo is new, smart, and kept spotlessly clean. The terrace has become my favourite spot. It's big! Quality garden furniture, with huge parasols. Shaded or sunny, you choose. You won't believe how nice the terrace is, until you try it. Peter is super friendly and a charming host. You won't believe how good he is....Don't take my word for it. Try the place. It's...
Read moreI came to this cafe twice, the reason- For £7.95 2 egg, 2 sausage, 2 bacon, mushrooms, beans, fried bread, toast and coffee. An English Breakfast worthy of the price, not only that but a high standard of cleanliness you don't often see as well as the most important factor, the staff. I was made to feel completely welcome not only from a social point but that i could have easily sat quietly to my own self without interference. The qaulity of the food was well dine, Bacon tasting like proper bacon should, sausages were very tasty as was all of it, both the staff reminded me of what a Cafe should be like. My thanks and gratitude to this Cafe for giving me a great experience, 😀👍
P.S, I'm looking forward to sitting in the rear...
