Our holiday group consisted of myself, my wife and two children, aged 7 and 13. It is unusual to find many B&B’s that like to have children staying but Simon and Lindsey do allow them! They provided twin beds in one room and the other had a double bed. Prior to arrival, Simon contacted me to enquire when we were likely to arrive. I assume this was so that he could be there to give us a warm welcome, which he did, and made us feel at ease. The rooms were airy and bright, clean and the beds were very comfy. There were lots of pillows, throws and cushions. Tea, coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits in the room with a fridge just outside for fresh milk if you prefer it to the long life ones (a nice touch I thought). With a lovely communal living room downstairs with the dining area next to it, there’s enough space to relax if, for some reason you didn’t want to go out to the beach or the town (which you obviously would!). There was free Wi-Fi for the kids as well, which was handy for the eldest as he could connect his phone. The location of the B&B is on the hill overlooking Porthminster beach to the front aspect which means the front bedroom – Trencrom (of which all 3 are located on the first floor) has this view out of a bay window. There are a couple of comfy seats which, although we had the other two rooms, I can imagine is a very nice place to unwind. There are also chairs out the front which is a great sun trap during the day. The back room – Godolphin, is a recent addition to the accommodation and in my opinion is the better of the three. It’s slightly bigger and has a very nice balcony area with a sea view off towards the direction of St Ives harbour. There are tables and chairs out there and you can watch the sunset in the evening if desired. I stayed in the middle room – Carn Brea and this was also nice, although this is the only one with no sea view (they can’t all have a sea view!). The room was comfortable and the youngest liked the bed as much as his own and wanted to take it with him when we left. Breakfast. Along with the bed, this is the important aspect of the B&B, obviously. So how was it? Well, some would say I like my food. Lindsey did not disappoint. She cooks a great full English and often does specials such as stuffed tomatoes, eggs benedict and scrambled eggs & salmon. In addition, there is a selection of juices, cereal, nuts, fresh yoghurts, fruit (strawberries, kiwi, raspberries etc) and brioche. With toast and hot drinks, there is more than enough to fill you up for your day’s adventure ahead. St Ives is simply beautiful. It was our first trip there. We normally go to North Devon, which is lovely, but I have to say St Ives is a stunning area. Such natural beauty and beaches with loads of National Trust places around there was loads for us to do, and lots to keep the kids occupied (even the teenager!). We went to places such as the beaches, St. Michaels Mount, Geevor Tin Mine, Sennen Cove (which is a wonderful place) and then walked from Sennen Cove along the coast to Lands End (stunning). Simon always offers advice for the best places to go and will book places for you in advance to save money. He even hands out discount vouchers if he has some. St Ives harbour is a great place for relaxing, eating drinking and just unwinding. We had drinks in the Upper Deck overlooking the harbour and ate in The Balcony which also overlooks the harbour. Food there was very quick and extremely nice. Good value for money and we went there twice! I think you get the idea. I loved it. I’d go back tomorrow if I could! Would I recommend Blue Sky Bed and...
Read moreWe’ve just got back from a week in Cornwall, four nights of this were spent with Simon and Lindsay. What a fantastic bnb, brilliant from start to finish. ||We got caught up in a two hour traffic jam on the way meaning we were over an hour late for check in, Lindsay was fantastic and told us not to worry and get there safely. It was honestly one of the best bnbs we’ve stayed in. The room was lovely and the little extra touches really made all the difference. A chocolate bar to welcome you, fresh milk in the fridge( not longlife), hot chocolate sachets, binoculars so you can look out to the sea. Honestly fantastic. Comfy beds, great bathroom and lots of storage for clothes. ||Breakfast was brilliant, as a Yorkshire lass I drink a lot of tea and Simon had no issues bringing me a teapot for two. Lots of selection and the daily special breakfast was a lovely surprise. ||What a lovely experience, can’t wait to come back again soon! ||P.s a little tip, you do have to walk up and down a small hill to get to the bnb, not really an issue for walking down but for walking back up it can be tiring. We figured out that the number 4 or 22 bus that leaves across from the cinema will drop you at the top of the hill for £1,...
