Upon arrival, the host was very welcoming and pleasant. He directed me to a selection of leaflets to places to visit on Chester and around Cheshire. The host recommended places to eat for breakfast, I.e. The Oaklands Hotel situated across the road.
The room could've been better as there was dust around the radiator and there was a crack on the mirror frame in my room, as well as this, the radiator shelf was coming off the wall and was held up with a cube of wood. As well as this, there were shelf brackets positioned on either side of the mirror in my private bathroom. The double bed was quite uncomfortable and springy and I had to sleep in the single bed. Read moreBowman Lodge was a warm, clean lodging house. There was an excellent supply of hot water and the room was serviced daily. There was a good supply of tea, coffee, milk etc. in the room. Bowman Lodge is not doing breakfast at present, which was a disappointment but the hoteis across the road fill the gap. There was no hairdryer in the room. The Lodge is within easy walking distance of the centre of town and there is ample parking on the road if the forecourt is fully taken. The owners were kind and helpful. Plenty of parking too - if not room at property then on road is fine too. We stayed in the top floor room, decent comfy bed with tea and coffee making facilities in the room - ensuite bathroom although the water pressure in the shower was pretty poor. No food available but the Hungry Horse (pub) is right across the road or there's a lovely little street a few hundred yards down the road with coffee shops and eateries. ...
