Chatwins - Hoole — Restaurant in England

Me and my friend needed to kill time and grab a quick bite to eat so chose Chatwins in Hoole. Unfortunately the staff were miserable as soon as we walked in and it appeared to be an inconvenience to them that we wanted to eat despite the fact that they work in a bakery… Secondly, my friend is a vegetarian and there was no sandwich option available for her, so she kindly asked, if it wasn’t too much of an inconvenience, that they could make her a cheese and salad sandwich. There is no exaggeration when I say you would have thought she asked them to lick the floor, but to be fair they did the bare minimum and made her the sandwich…begrudgingly. Finally, I ordered a bap and even said to my friend that I would go and find us a table, at which no point did the miserable lady serving us mention that there is an extra price if you want to sit in nor did she give me the option to choose to sit in or takeaway so I wouldn’t have known. So as I sat down and begun eating, waiting for my friend, she made a point of coming up to me and telling me that I cannot sit in here. I asked why and she said “you can’t sit in here if you haven’t paid sit-in prices you will have to go outside”. To which I replied “I had no idea that was even thing” (because let’s be honest how ridiculous that you have to pay extra for a plate you don’t even keep!). I felt very humiliated as several people were looking but decided to get up wait for my friend, then we swiftly exited. Me and my friend both work in hospitality and agreed as we left that if our customer service skills were that poor we would have been fired. I can’t say we’ll ever come in there again as we’ve been a few times, all in which the staff were miserable but this time they were blatantly rude. Will never go here ever again and I live 5 minute walk away I walked in nobody waiting as I'm stood there being ignored by ALL members of staff when noise goes off for just eat machine member of staff who I think was the manager said wow this is a big order I'm still being ignored then a lady walks in stands next to me for 2 minutes then walks over to cafe side I'm still being ignored then after another couple of minutes a young member of staff walks out the same lady dealing with just eat order asks her to serve lady who had come in after me young staff member comes back says she wants a bacon batch which what I wanted if I'd been asked nearly 10 minutes earlier only to be told all the bacon is for just eat order which came in after I was waiting at this point I said this is a joke and WILL never go back there surely you look after customer in shop as to someone who books online so never again will I go to ANY...

Some of the ladies who work here are so passive aggressive! It’s like they’re annoyed they’re having to serve you at all. There’s one that storms around and huffs and puffs and when I came in a Christmas she threw food at the wall “aiming for the bin”. She was also exceptionally rude to a very elderly lady a few days ago which prompted this review. The lady walked to the front and asked if she could sit down and order, the poor woman was barked at to get in the queue and another customer even offered to order something for her to help.
