Me & wife had recently booked an overnight stay at the hotel in a poolside room that included dinner, bed and breakfast. The room we had was great, lots of space to relax in and the access to the pool is convenient. The overall atmosphere of the hotel is very chilled and a nice enviroment to be in. However, whilst we did really enjoy our stay, there are lots of little things/finer details that really let the calibre of the hotel down and require attention in order to retain its luxury status before its lost!||||The paving around the pool and tiling internally is tired and needs attention. The internal spa area where the sauna, steam room (out of order), salt room and monsoon shower are showing serious signs of wear and tear. The internal of our poolside room had blinds missing on the roof lights, was seriously over warm (A/C is available but listening to 2no A/C units rattling away to keep cool isnt that much fun)||||The decking around the outdoor hot tub is showing signs of deterioration. I had visited the hotel many moons ago and can confirm that nothing much has been changed/upgraded. When a hotel such as the Feversham Arms holds themselves in high esteem there are certain things you expect to be perfect, especially when paying luxury money||||Whilst the above is critical, there are plenty of positive notes, the staff were all superb, very friendly, accommodating and relateable. The evening meal was top notch, zero complaints at all with the food served. As we had such a superb evening meal, we were really looking forward to breakfast but the food served could not be further apart in quality, the breakfast served was somewhat reminiscent of a weatherspoons breakfast which was a huge let down||||The serving staff were tearing their hair out due to the quality of the food been served from the Chef, items were missing from breakfasts, people were sending food back, when items were been sent back out they were overcooked, hard and in all honesty, not edible at all. On-site staff did advise it was a new chef they had in for the breakfast service, but again, as a customer, this is something the hotel needs to rectify and compensate guests for as they have not paid money for poor quality and laclustre excuses. The complaints did fall on sympathetic ears but in terms of resolution, nothing was offered. Overall contrasting feelings, but if the hotel re-invest a little, satisfaction...
Read moreI booked to come here for my birthday on Saturday. I had been searching for a long time for a spa and afternoon tea and thought this would be the perfect place. The spa itself was nice, the outdoor jacuzzi was lovely and warm but really is only big enough for 4 people. The outdoor pool wasn't that warm and felt a bit dated. The indoor steam rooms were all good and the place was kept really clean and tidy at all times. My spa treatment had been delayed by half an hour and I was left waiting. No one had told me and so went I went to reception they just said yes we're busy so it's been pushed back but I was looked at as if I should know and I'm a mind reader. There was no apology.
I had the treatment which was lovely though and worth the wait.
Then we went on the the afternoon tea which was beyond bad. As the hotel is in the Michelin guide and 2 AA rosettes I thought it would be really good. We paid extra for this too as an upgrade from the lunch package with prosecco. When we got there they thought we were having lunch and I had to explain it wasn't. I did this on email and had to explain again when I got there and then felt like I was being challenged when I asked for the glass of fizz.
When the food came, the sandwiches were stale, the scone was rock hard and the cakes tasted really strange. There was a green cake with a sour cream on top, a dry cake with marmalade thrown on top, a plastic tasting chocolate cake and a macaroon which was nice. The tea and coffee came out in a metal tin style pot with water marks all over it and felt like something out of a greasy spoon.
I was so disappointed! I said all this when I left and was told they would have changed it but we were just left there with no staff around to ask anything so we tried to eat some little bits as we were hungry with it being pushed back and then we just left.
We were told we shouldn't have paid for an upgrade so we got £20 back but really we had no compensation for the afternoon tea. Getting the money back took a long time at reception too and was such a faff. I left feeling frazzled, angry and fed up when you're supposed to feel relaxed after a spa.
I was really looking forward to the day but it was just a bit of a let down and being my birthday it just in part kind of ruined my day.
We travelled 3 hours to come here and I wouldn't...
Read moreWe came to stay for a relaxing night away from the kids and have stayed at the Feversham before. We took our dogs this time and chose the Spa package (Me time), that included a treatment each, dinner, bed and breakfast. We were also told we would be getting a room overlooking the spa, but on checking in, our room (32) was on the end overlooking the corridor underneath us and a brick wall....||||So, a mixed review due to the decline in the room quality and under-investment into the hotel in recent years. ||||Spa - superb! Our treatments were incredible, the welcome friendly. the service top notch. Nothing was too much trouble and we were treated so well. My wife and I apparently had a snoring competition in our treatment rooms - the sign of a good facial and massage!||||Dinner was very good, with professional and good service. We had to ask for a wine cooler, but other than that everything was cooked really well and the £60 each on the deal meant our meal was covered (minus th wine!). Fine dining it was, and it felt that way. ||||Breakfast was not as special, the help yourself buffet part was largely decimated by the time we came down at 9am, but the cooked breakfast and coffee were nice and no issues.||||Room quality - this is where we had our issues and it seems the hotel are used to hearing this... As mentioned, room 32 (with no view), had a broken shower, dirty towels and broken air con. The bed was huge and very comfortable, but we had to use a desk fan to help with the summer heat at night and that meant it wasn't as pleasant a nights sleep. The shower water going everywhere, and condensation build up in the bathroom were bad. We showed videos to the staff and the initial receptionist (young lady) couldn't care less from her response. Thankfully, the duty manager on that evening was excellent and understanding. We didn't get any resolution to the shower or the air con though.||||Overall - I know the hotel has gone through some issues lately and hopefully the new ownership can bring some money into it to help resolve the detoriation seen. The value of the package we paid for was on balance slightly not worth it due to the room quality. There are lots of great aspects to this hotel, and the management do seem to care, but it...
