Mannion & Co in Helmsley has become one of my top 3 places to eat of all time due to my visit this morning. From walking in all the way to paying your bill and saying goodbye you are provided with such friendly, professional and warm service amongst every member of staff. Matilda stood out when taking our order and making sure everything was okay for us. We had a strawberry juice and a iced hot chocolate, both unique flavours in their own way but yet both delicious. Now the start of the show was the food - it's got to be mentioned that this place knows their food and how to pair flavours. It's not just a menu with various options, you can tell each item on there (which is on chalkboards so I imagine it gets switched up regularly) is carefully selected by experts in this field. I had the prawns in a katsu mayo which was presented well but tasted unbelievable. The flavours complimented each other all the way through, and then finished with the bread it was on. Fantastic quality on every ingredient. We also had the buttermilk chicken sandwich which was tender, full of flavour and yet again paired with a different but still delicious bread. Alongside we had some fries with parmesan cheese. Fries are fries but these were hot, crispy and golden. Would have loved to of gone through the menu but will definitely be back, and look forward to trying coffee and cakes. It's also worth noting the toilet was kept immaculately clean, as was the rest of the areas where you are in. This goes a long way. All in all a fantastic experience which meant we both left with a smile on our faces. Thank you all Mannion & Co and see...
Read moreWe stopped here for lunch on Sunday 11th July 2021. There were 7 of us comprising 3 adults and 4 children. They were very accommodating and due to covid restrictions we had to have 2 separate tables upstairs with the kids at 1 table and the adults at another. They provide you with menu for drinks but the food menu is featured on blackboards on their walls so I assume their menu changes on a daily basis which I think is fantastic as it's clearly very seasonal. We really fancied a Sunday roast which they are pleased to announce on the menus provided that Sundays are all about their roasts. Unfortunately they had sold out of the lamb so we settled on roast beef. I have to say that it was the best roast beef we have had. The beef is served on a plate with a large Yorkshire pudding and some rich beef gravy. Another plate contains a medley of roasted carrots, tender stem broccoli, mangetout and roast potatoes with extra gravy on the side in a little jug of it's own. The carrots were quite incredible... I would love to know what they done to make them so tasty. They even catered for our incredibly fussy daughter and went off menu and whipped up a batch of American style pancakes, with sausage and scrambled eggs for her and the pancakes were light, soft and fluffy and a lovely vanilla taste to them. If these feature as a breakfast item I would most definitely have them.
If you are in the area and looking for a really good meal, do not hesitate and get yourself to...
Read moreCelebrated a family birthday with lunch. The food on the whole was lovely really tasty and massive portions they are very expensive for what they are however, a Sunday roast 2 coffees and a Yorkshire rarebit and 1 dessert for £49 is really too much. I also don't eat meat and asked for smoked salmon with my rarebit instead of bacon and was told by the male staff member that the chef would not be happy to give this as it 'doesn't go'...the chef then did put some on my plate but 'was not happy about it'. I was not happy about being told what I will and won't like and don't think it is very friendly to tell me I was begrudgingly given a small bit of salmon...found the whole thing very strange and it turns out salmon does go well with cheese, May have had more to do with the cost? The ladies that served us were lovely however and everyone really enjoyed their meals, the mussels with makhani sauce is a really good idea and tasted great. The cafe can be cramped inside and there are many nice cafes in Helmsley to try, mannions is among them and I'm sure...
