Ryeburn of Helmsley — Restaurant in England

Having checked the company website for this business I downloaded their ice cream and sorbet menus - and what a selection they offered.

So imagine my frustration having made a special visit to be told when asking for an ice cream menu “we don’t do them”. So I asked what sundaes they did. The answer was “none”.

Having been directed to the single fridge containing around 10 ice cream containers, three of which were almost empty, I then asked why they were advertising on the website a huge selection of ice creams and sorbets yet had nothing like this choice available.

The answer was remarkable: “the website hasn’t been updated since 2005” in a couldn’t care less attitude.

If this is how an ice cream business thinks it’s the right way to bring in customers, it’s not. We walked out and...

Stopped in here for a cone while walking around Helmsley on a Sunday afternoon and it was lovely. Lots of flavors, cute little sitting area, and friendly staff.

Even witnessed a kid’s unfortunate mishap dropping his ice cream on the floor and the staff got him a new one right away, haha.

My group loved the rhubarb crumble which we were told sells out quickly, and also enjoyed the salted caramel popcorn. I had the strawberry and vanilla flavors which were both delicious, especially the strawberry.

Great little spot we’ll visit again next time...

We sat down at the table as directed . There was table service and we had to wait for one of the 3 staff to get to us. They managed to get to serve the other 3 occupied tables and a person that arrived for an ice cream then one of the waitresses proceeded to get the 2 empty tables cleared and another then went on to clean them. They failed to get on with taking our order let alone actually think about actually serving us. The covid restrictions are not an excuse for ignoring customers.
