We had a very good experience at this Premiere Inn. Customer service is outstanding (which isn’t always the case at PI) Even when they were reply busy they had it all under control and were in good spirits. The A/C system worked better here then at other Premier Inns with A/C. I like a fan as well, which they do not have, just in case. The parking lot is not huge, but we didn’t have any problem finding a spot at any time. It’s very close to the train station, our windows overlooked the rail line, but the train comes in quiet and leaves quietly and causes no disturbance. Breakfast was below par for a PI though, the sausages and bacon were almost inedible unfortunately, overcooked and hard. The breakfast is your standard Scottish PI breakfast: fried eggs, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, beans, black pudding and mushrooms for your hot food. Plus your continental items like toast and cereal. Coffee machine and hot tea. The wifi is non-existent currently. I believe it’s possibly going to be upgraded or repaired somewhat soon, but currently you will not get working wifi in rooms and very, very slow (1-2mb) in the lobby. We did not have dinner at this location on this trip, but looked like a standard PI dinner menu at some of their locations. There is vending machines in the lobby, a bottled coke is around £2.20, but a short drive or walk up the road is a petrol station with cheap beverages (no alcoholic beverages). Most of the town can be accessed within a fifteen minute walk. The locals suggested the Krispy Chicken takeout a bit to the west (12-15 min walk I believe), next door is a convenience store with beverages alcohol if needed. I would give this PI a 4 in general, but it may be the best PI I have stayed at, so a five when just comparing to other PI’s. The female manager our leader on duty while we were there was superb and the customer service alone would make me want to return. Minor issues: It did not appear as if kettles were being cleaned or rinses; the soap/shampoo was empty in my bathroom, and towel hanger missing from the back of the door. The rest of room looked clean, just the mattress pad looked stained with tea. Recommendations: The Taco truck on the pier, Taco-East, is superb. It’s open on Friday and Saturday evenings. Order ahead of time in the day for a time slot or drop by to order. Picture posted has the direct contact info, as it’s hard to locate online. Return trip: We had requested and confirmed ahead of time connecting rooms and were assured we would have one, but someone went ahead and gave our connecting room away and ignored the notation. The room was requested so one parent could stay with two younger sleeping children and older two could be taken out to a movie with other parent, a staff member gave kids snacks for missing and plan ruined. Did not receive room booked and paid for, was not offered partial refund. Breakfast was below par still. Black pudding undercooked and gummy, bacon overcooked. I felt as if it was understaffed at times which led to lack of items in breakfast area. The staff though we’re working hard and no complaint on that end, much to the opposite. Customer service despite room issue was great for a premier inn. Toilet seat was not connected almost leading to an embarrassing accident after arriving. Room was clean and modern, well kept and internet seems to have improved since first visit.

Most Northern Town in the UK 🇬🇧 I was a bit surprised that Premier Inn built a hotel in such a tiny isolated town but cannot complain! This hotel was the reason my brothers and I came to visit Thurso. And what a beautiful place and town to visit. Unfortunately the town is extremely small so you like shopping you best want to look elsewhere. Thurso has a few corner shops and takeaways and a Tesco local and a local branded petrol ⛽️ station. Apart from this there is not much else. Also most of the town is dead quite after 6 and a majority of everything is closed. Just a heads up if you’re new and planning to visit. (And no there is NO McDonald’s in Thurso so count that out if your searching for somewhere to eat 😂 LOL) The hotel 🏨 itself was nice and it’s always a treat having aircon. Winter or not, Premier Inn hotel rooms get very warm so it’s a treat having the air con to cool down. The views were lovely from where we were and got a view of the town, countryside in the distance and the train station where you can see the train roll into the station. Our room did have some sort of food stain on the carpet but aside from this minor detail the room and service was great! Also loved the purple mood lighting in the room too. If your look in for a judge visit to Thurso this is your hotel 🏨!

Great hotel but lousy food. The hotel is fairly new (as of 2022). Our room was nice, roomy, and accompanied by a good bathroom with deep bathtub and 3-way shower. We had occasional problems with our contact less key cards and other members of our group reported similar issues. What really lets the hotel down is the quality of the food, and the service, in the integral restaurant. Members of my party had a very poor evening meal, which I skipped. Breakfast was a joke. Very nearly 30 minutes elapsed between our placing our simple orders and actually receiving any food. Our plates sat, partly-served, under heat rays for about 20 minutes while something-or-other else got done. There were fewer than 10 people in the restaurant. When the food finally arrived the fried eggs were solid and rubbery, thanks to their extended wait. The sausages weren't very good and the baked beans tasted downright nasty - think budget supermarket cheapest. While we were there they ran out of bread for the self-service toast, ran out of milk for our tea and coffee, and (unbelievably) ran out of water. Stay there by all means. But eat elsewhere.

The hotel is in a very good position, and this time, they own the car park. After the last time I stayed at a Premier Inn and arrived in the cold, wet, windy conditions of winter, parked in the accessible space at the door, and a week later received a massive fine for not getting a parking ticket I knew nothing about! So, after many years avoiding Premier Inns, it was the first thing I checked when we arrived. The space was fine and close to the door, so it took seconds to get in once out of the car. We then waited over 5 minutes for someone to come and serve us. At least once he arrived, he was very pleasant, helpful, and friendly, so I am assuming they were a bit short staff. The room was fine and close to the reception area, and there were a couple of well stocked vending machines nearby. Once in, it was spacious, and of course, we had a full wet floor shower. The grab rails and shower seat were all fine and sturdy, but the toilet seat was too low for me, and as always, there was no toilet riser. So I struggled. There were two chairs in the room, and I couldn't get out of either without assistance. And the bed? It was lovely and soft, in fact, very comfortable, I just couldn't get off it. At all. It was too low!in the end we worked out that if I sat on the bed with the chair next to it, my wife could get just enough leverage to get me lifted off the bed and turned to sit in the chair. I could then reposition myself, and we could go through the same process to get me on my rollator. I am glad I chose to use this instead of my wheelchair on this occasion, I think trying to get about on that in the space available would have been difficult. Still, we got there in the end, So, from my point of view, a raised bed would have made all...
