NIGHTMARE! Rented a "luxury cabin" basically a garden shed for an over priced amount and was told I could have the run of the house. A joke! The host constantly change the goal posts as to what I could and couldn't do on a daily basis. It was an extremely stressful environment to stay in.
First day of my stay the host asked me could I buy her eggs from the supermarket for the other guests breakfast even though I had to give these guests in the house priority. I was then told I couldn't park in the driveway as it was for the guests (I was also a paying guest ?? ) I had to park on the street. I received a parking ticket after she told me it was free and someone ran into me. I was told I could have the whole month then she double booked me with a friend. The dark path up to the shed was covered in rocks and the place was musty and dusty triggering sinus. I had to wash the linen. I was blamed for problems with her plumbing and the host even text me at 11pm to ask me to go down and check the fuse box for the guests in the house. I was abused by text the following day that I had upset the guests when the issue had nothing to do with me. Basically the host lived in the next town and didn't want to drive to the property to fix the problem. I was then verbally abused by text for cooking meat in a "vegan" house when I was told nothing of this when I booked and PAID in full. When asking the other guests I was told there was no mention on the website stating it was a vegan only house!
I left early from my stay having travelled extensively, staying with many different people all over the globe I have never been treated so disgustingly. Even when I left the host sent me an awful text shaming me. The whole experience was quite traumatic to say the least.
I would NOT recommend this TOXIC place. The vibe is so not Glastonbury, even the locals had warned me about this person.
The host was passive aggressive, gaslight me and then shamed me all over the B&B group sites making it challenging for me to find further accommodation...
Read moreHaving just returned from a short stay at Rie’s Retreat, I would like to highly recommend this hidden treasure, located so close to all the main sites that Glastonbury has to offer. Firstly, the downstairs rooms are elegant, comfortable and so tastefully decorated that I can honestly say this is by far the best Airbnb I have ever found! I particularly loved the original, Victorian black and white tiles in the hallway that create such a dramatic first impression as you arrive. There is a charming conservatory, where Rie provides a self-service breakfast and will cook for you on request. We were delighted to sample Rie’s evening meal, which was fully vegetarian, nutritious and delicious! As we relaxed over our evening meal, we relished looking out into the beautiful garden which, like the rest of the house, is so well designed and maintained. Breakfast was equally as delightful, with so much choice, fresh fruit and Rie’s amazing home-made granola. She really is a talented chef! My husband and I stayed in The Gold Room, with its fabulously designed and spacious en suite bathroom. The bed was so comfortable, and everything we required had been thought of. I often find it hard to sleep in new surroundings, but we both had the best night’s sleep and felt fully refreshed to explore Glastonbury in the morning. Rie was such a warm and helpful host in telling us where to visit and pointing us in the right direction. The house could not be nearer to everywhere we wanted to see, including The Tor, The Chalice Well and Glastonbury Abbey. Everything in this house was spotlessly clean, convenient, comfortable and stylish. I personally think you would be hard pressed to find a better place to stay in Glastonbury. It truly was an idyllic and special experience visiting Glastonbury. This house, together with its wonderful host Rie, encapsulates the enchanted spirit of the town. We are already planning...
Read moreRie is an absolute gem of a hostess. Her place is so well located, just walking distance to all the magical sites in Glastonbury. Her vegetarian cooking is truly stellar, you will love it (even if like me you aren't a vegetarian)! Her place is always clean and feels like coming home. Her friendly, sparkling and helpful presence just makes everything even better. Highly recommend a stay here, or to bring your group here. I have led two retreats at her place, and will definitely book again!
2nd Review! Absolutely amazing place to hold a retreat! And to stay! June 2025 Rie is just the most gracious hostess. I’ve stayed here probably eight times now, and led 3 retreats here. Her gourmet vegetarian cooking is always a hit with my guests. And the deserts - wow! Out of this world yummy and healthy! Rie is so friendly and bubbly and helpful. The rooms are great, the garden is lovely. You couldn’t ask for a nicer, yet also homey place to stay. It’s just the best, and I will come back again and again. She makes everyone feel so welcomed, and her warmth and laughter are contagious. You simply can’t go wrong...
