Poor from the.moment we arrived. Arrival, as the receptionist told us at 3.40pm is guaranteed after 4pm. We were allowed in at 5.10 after waiting with a fully packed car kids and food (we were offered a complimetry drink whilst waiting we were also told we would be phoned when ready we were not.we did decline the drinks) You will also be charged £50 for the key to the apartment on arrival but when you return for your 10am departure you will need to wait 3-5 days for it to be returned to your bank .||The first thing you will notice is the car park. The description is accurate that there is a space if you can get in it if you have a large car or pickup truck you will struggle.||Initial view of the actual apartment no 1 cormorant is ok not 4 star by a long shot. We had three days with no hot water in the shower (reported to our booking agent) which is also more of a drizzle and the shower door had no stopper so we were worried the glass would smash on the wall. Most of the bedroom lampshades were broken but the beds are realtively comfortable. The living room resembles my dentist waiting room and isn't comfortable for 4 people to sit it a sofa and conservatory chairs looks nice but totally un practical for a family.||There is an iron but no ironing board and the lack of utensils is crazy, there is a knife for every occasion but no scissors or spatula. We cooked breakfast once and after this resorted to toast. The microwave doubles as an oven if you can work it and if the food for 4 people would fit, instructions left are not for the same model. No cooker but plenty of space for one.The over hob extractor drops grubby dust on your food when you open it and then the best bit if you cook anything the smoke alarm goes off, in fact they actually just go off for the hell of it at any time of the day and if your lucky enough to be in apartment 1 if any other smoke alarms go off it will set yours off as well. 6am or 1am the alarms are relentless.||Luckily the weather was nice for our stay but if it was wet there are no coat hooks and no where to leave wet walking boots.|| If you are looking for a relaxing break dont book this apartment we were lucky enough to have a herd of elephants wearing lead shoes in the apartment above us who at 12 midnight were happy to bounce around like it was midday this is obviously not the hotels fault but should be considered when booking.||When considering how close this is to the beach and the people staying a long handle brush would be helpful for sand . We did try to hoover the sand up but this is awkward as it disturbs other people. ||The maintenance did replace some of the light-shades and sort the water and shower door, but these shouldn't be in this state to start with at a 4.||I would neither recommend or revist this place we usually choose 4/5 accomodation and I can honestly assure you this is...
Read moreWe had been gifted a voucher for a champagne afternoon tea at the St Brides Hotel so thought we would incorporate it into a weekend in Saundersfoot. We were bringing our dog along so, when I saw that St Brides had apartments in the village, I thought it would be a perfect treat. Perhaps I should have done more 'googling' before booking because it certainly wasn't the 4-star experience I had envisaged. I appreciate that the website is clear that the apartments weren't part of the hotel refurbishment but its essentially a block of flats and it all felt a bit 'holiday park'. The parking was tight by ok. Inside the apartment itself, it had a very odd layout. It had two large bedrooms, each with an ensuite which were absolutely lovely, but the living/kitchen area was very small and oddly proportioned. The kitchen area was huge which meant the space for a sofa/table was very limited (one small two-seater sofa squeezed into a corner in an apartment that sleeps 4) Thankfully, it was just two of us and our dog, but goodness knows how 4 adults would have fitted in that living space! I appreciate that we weren't staying in the hotel but you would still expect a 4-star experience, which I'm disappointed to say that it didn't provide. There are definitely better places to staff within Saundersfoot for the...
Read moreAfter three unanswered attempts to book directly we didn’t through booking.com. It said apartments were a short walk so expected them on the hotel grounds, knowing they are quite extensive.||At check we were directed elsewhere. No hotel information was offered.||Apartments were actually not part of the St Brides complex, they are down the hill and in a different road with a car park view. No info was given on if we could actually use the spa facilities or not, some documents said you got discounted breakfast in the hotel for being a guest but you didn’t. If I wanted to stay in a stand alone appt I would have booked something far cheaper. Actual facilities in the apartment were nice, particularly bedrooms which were very comfy. || The instructions to operate appliances and boiler are shocking. It was cold. As expected guests I would have expected the rooms to be warm, the heating was off and took hours to become effective. Bathrooms are lovely but the grout needs serious cleaning in both. Shower was overhead only and lukewarm. Car park was so tight we couldn’t use it and had to park in the hotel and navigate the steep hill. ||Overall clean comfy beds but very disappointing. I had stayed in the actual hotel before which was lovely. But I would say gone downhill since Celtic...
