I will never go here again! Awful place, dark interior, music so loud that a quiet meal & a pleasant talk was completely out of the question. Very, very short staffed. No waitress service, order at the bar & get your own cutlery & condiments, also, the tables were lefted with dirty dishes on them. Eventually a very miserable looking young man came out to clear tables. We waited over half an hour for our Fish and chips, which were warm to cold, so I assume the food was sat waiting somewhere & it was NOT worth the wait. On the menu it says the fish is done in a homemade beer batter. I don't know whos home it was made in but it was not here, it was not fresh & dark brown, swimming in fat, completely over cooked. Served with onion salad garnish & coleslaw! Why? Trying to be modern or something & failing completely, it was horrible, Fish & chips should be served with garden peas or mushy peas for a reason, they taste good together! Coleslaw/onion salad DON'T. No choice of white or brown bread, it was just dumped on the table, one plate between two, & as I can't eat brown bread a waste of money. I would of said something but these were not the type of staff you could approach. No friendly welcome, no how was your meal, no can I get your anything else. It felt like the parents had left the very disinterested children in charge. We couldn't wait to leave. I don't how many staff they have but we didn't see many. Then if that wasn't bad enough the ladies loo was disgusting, dirty & in urgent need of repair or replacement. No loo roll was bad, but a toilet that moves is frightening. I had to tell two foreign ladys not to use the loo until I got more loo roll. As I came out the young man was being asked for loo roll by another lady but he just got it & left it in the kitchen until he saw another member of staff, a lady, I mean he might not want to enter a lady's WC or perhaps they told him not to but he could have gone & found her! Honestly everything felt like too much trouble in there, a really uncomfortable feeling, definitely not recommended. Also not the cheapest place. If you want good food, at a good price, in a clean, friendly environment go somewhere else. Oh yes & I had to move chairs, the first one...

Food poisoning... had the fish and chips. Fish tasted a bit... off? Put it down to my lack of fish-eating expertise and continued to finish. 5 hours later, food poisoning symptoms start. 4 week later I'm still dealing with the after-effects (gastroenteritis and food intolerance). If you need evidence you can ask my doctor for results of my stool sample.

Bar staff were rude and almost overcharged us before we realised and asked them to check the order. Barmaid didn't know what a shandy was and spoke to my mum like a 2 year old (maybe because my mum's foreign and therefore has no grasp of the English language, I don't know), and the woman supervising her didn't know how to interact with us using multisyllabic words. For example, 'what time do you start serving food?' 'six'. 'Can we sit anywhere or is there a restaurant-only area?' 'yep.'

Also, the dogs are cute and all that, but it's really unhygienic having 4 of them wandering around while we're trying to eat. And they really add that 'wet dog aroma' to the place.

Kitchen staff were...

2 stars on the service because it could be more friendly.

When I arrived and ordered my beer I praised the place with something like “lovely place you have here” and the lady turned her back to me without saying a word.

Then I went again to order my food and was in front of the other lady in the bar corner with my menu in hands and the lady looked at me and then moved all the way down to attend another person.

So I had to move to them in front of the bar and stare at them to get their attention, and there were 3 others chatting behind the bar without any intention to get my order. A boy then took my order, all sorted.

My wife was seeing everything and told me when I got back to our table that the lady saw me frustrated and when she moved away from me she was actually giggling to another colleague.

Really don’t get this behaviour. Just a bunch of kids having fun?

Anyway, the...

Lovely place to go and have food and drinks. Dog friendly, family friendly and great atmosphere. Lots of seating inside and out , we managed to get a table straight away . It was easy to order and the food didnt take to long to arrive, good choices avalible, something for everyone. Food was delicious and we all enjoyed it. Toilets were well maintained and clean. Menu attached is correct as of 30/08/25 Great selection of drinks and a good all round pub. Definitely worth a visit.

Just had a terrific couple of lunches at the Captain's table, Saundersfoot. One was the Salmon and Prawn salad, 3 generous portions of each over a bed of salad, with bread & butter. The other was a Ploughmans, consisting ham and yes 3 generous portions of cheese, with salad, coleslaw, pickle and bread + butter. See pics, the food was refreshing and full of flavour, downed with a 2nd pint of cool Estrella. Sunny days and good service. Compliments to the kitchen.

Avoid this place if you have any respect for your intestines.Ordered 2 x burger and drinks for £25! Then after a long wait received 2 x cremated lumps of foul tasting bland pieces of cheap mince! Complained to staff, but no apology or explanation of why food was sent out to consumer in such a state. I would rather gouge out my eyes with a rusty blunt ice cream scoop, than return to this establishment.
