Arrogant and incompetent kitchen.
Came for the good reviews, left with an overcooked steak, uneven lobster (2 different halves) and poor a attitude.
Ordered surf n turf.
If you are going to serve a steak and state on the menu that it will be cooked "Medium-Rare", then you should be able to get it right. To cook a quality piece of meat, "well-done" isn't right. When we politely pointed this out to the young waiter, and tried not to make a to big a deal of it - he sent the waiter back to tell us 'it's hard to get it right all the time'. For context, they have 2 steaks on their menu - 1 is the same size (1kg) and cooked the same way every single time. You should be getting that right...
Also - he refused to acknowledge that the lobster halves were from two different lobsters citing that this is possible with a lobster... which is correct. What is not correct however, is they can't have 2 different sized bodies!
This happens in kitchens, and our experience would have been ok had it not been for the way we were treated. The meat quality was good, just poorly handled and the cocktails nice but very weak for the price.
Lesson learned for the chef/manager to not mock his customers, and if you make a mistake in the kitchen - the customer shouldn't bear the result with an attitude.
Sorry for the young waiter who got caught between the table and the kitchen - your boss should take ownership in a situation such as that and at least give you the capability to offer something to...

We was originally booked in for six thirty but called an hour earlier and asked if we could come any earlier as the snooker final was on. lol " no problem" the chef ( owner? ) tells us " how's 5.30? " Perfect !! We went for the sharing platter to start and asked if we could have scallops with it as well..." no problem.. what ever you like !" he tells us. Fantastic starter. Muscles in a beautiful broth, perfectly cooked huge prawns, squid , scallops, mackerel pate, garlic mayo dip and a warm baguette.. fantastic. Mrs W had the lime pasta, but wanted to swop the prawns for half a lobster....." Yep !! no problem!" I had the last HUUUUGGGGE sea bass with coconut rice, fresh coriander and a very delicate curry sauce.. it was amazing !! Crème Brulee for Mrs W , chocolate torte and ice cream for me. Nice bottle of wine to wash it all down .... So what's the best thing about the stone Crab?? Well, in order the food of course ! next the staff are soooo friendly. Lovely young lady, I think was the chefs daughter? and the lady that served us were absolutely lovely people. Perfect setting next , right near the sea and the place itself is quirky, spotlessly clean. The Chef...great guy and god can he cook !! So a perfect night. Thanks everybody at The...
Read moreWe had the most amazing meal on Friday evening, the staff were fantastic, so warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, our table wasn't quite ready so we sat at the bar and the girl behind the bar (I believe to be owners daughter) was so chatty and helpful, and really made us feel comfortable while waiting to be seated, and the lady who served us was great, nothing seemed too much trouble. The food is outstanding!! We had the sharing platter Bass and cod Kiev and all were fantastic! Fully recommend.
We ended up getting engaged after this meal đ so it will forever hold a special place in our hearts and we will be back!
I wanted to say a huge thank you to The Stone Crab - my parents dined the evening after and when they mentioned we had gone on to that engaged, walking home from our meal, the staff ever so kindly gifted my parents a bottle of champagne and asked if they could pass it in to us with their congratulations. We thought this was so kind and thoughtful and it just shows how much they care about their customers - I can see why this place gets booked up so far in advance.
If you come to Saundersfoot, I highly recommend that you try this beautiful restaurant, you won't be dissapointed by the food or service!
Thanks...
